Honestly it is a lovely home and most of the staff are also really lovely and genuinely care about the residents. It’s a hard job I’m not gonna lie, it’s physically hard work and quite emotionally tolling but any job in care is. However, team leaders are generally very supportive and management are good at listening to you in terms of the rota and things like how you want to progress in your career which is really nice. I do feel like sometimes the carers are often ignored when pointing out something wrong with a resident so nothing is done until it’s too late which can be slightly insulting and a lot of staff aren’t there for the right reasons and sometimes actively do inappropriate things but nothings really done about it because they don’t want to lose staff which is slightly frustrating when you’re trying so hard but getting paid the same as someone who’s sat playing on their phone. Nonetheless, I love my job a lot and I do feel like on the whole we work as a good team and even the housekeepers and kitchen staff are lovely and although it’s difficult, if you wanted to be in care I would recommend working here.

Lack off communication

be mindful what you say around staff lack off communication, working fulltime doing double on your own is very hard working ! the place has turned into a family tree all working on the same shifts, nothing is confidential and is very easily twisted lack off training and then expected to know everything in a few days. sat in the shelter when DM is there that's when you find out a lot off personal stuff about other members off staff which I find is really unprofessional.

I have worked at Falkland Grange for a year and I’m only leaving to progress in my career as there is no job available for this within the home. I have loved my job, the residents are amazing. I have relations within the management team, this was always managed well and none of us worked directly together and purposely had different line managers. I accessed lots of training within the year and I’ve learnt skills which I’ll take away with me, the whole home work together really closely and this creates a nice culture to work in, unfortunately there are people who let the place down like anywhere but they are definitely out weighed by the 99% of the staff who are a pleasure to have worked with. I wouldn’t be leaving if a job would have become available for me to progress into, I wouldn’t think twice about coming back in the future and I hope our paths cross again.

I have worked at Falkland Grange since the very beginning, before we had our first resident. It’s a caring, safe and compassionate environment to work in. It’s a pleasure to work here, it has its challenges just like many other health and social care settings currently. Management prioritise recruitment and commit to improving this. Working with family circles doesn’t bother me as I have seen this mentioned on other reviews, it’s the friendship circles that have a bigger impact on the staffing culture. It’s frustrating to read that people who work here are unhappy because they need to consider moving on and not impacting the environment with their toxic judgements, as it will make it much nicer for the rest of us to work. Majority of staff work really hard, against the challenges we face. It’s a shame these people will happily accept the constant thank you gifts and compliments we all receive, but do not have a positive thing to say. In comparison to the pressures of all care homes settings and the health and social care sector, this is the perfect choice of workplace as you are appreciated, thanked and rewarded for all you do. I’ve seen many staff changes over the years and we have the most committed management team that I’ve worked with in my time. We will continue to stand up against these people who are branding us this way and hope that many others will join our team, to hopefully replace the ones who are letting us down with their toxic feedback.

Unfortunately not somewhere that's happy

Lovely residents but the culture is difficult to work with. A whole family run every department, this means anything you say gets passed through all staff.If you enjoy working alone looking after 34 residents, working 24/36 hours straight, medication errors being hidden, no support after a passing and being used, this is the perfect place to work. Good luck 🥰

Good workplace...hard as in every health sector...but good team

I am not saying that is easy to work with people, with elderly, with dementia...but what I am saying is...if you know how to do your job, if you are dedicated and you like to take responsabilities than this is the best place I could choose to work. Good team, smiley and helpful.

The management is so easy to get on with and always helps you out when your stuck it feels like family up there the residents are all lovely and couldn’t ask to work in a better place would recommend the care home to everyone

Productive and well managed home.

I have worked here now for nearly a year and have enjoyed working here. The staff are always helpful when needing the extra help, management are always available to talk to with any issues that arise. I have always felt involved in any decisions being made within my role and my skills and knowledge is always being used and shared where needed throughout the team. Of course there are days where there are days that can be stressful but this is managed very well with management ensuring that staff are not felt too under pressure and manage this well. Everyone is very friendly and offers help in all departments where they can showing a working family ethos. And of course the most important and enjoyable part of the job is that we do this for the residents who are the most important and this is driven throughout the home.

Great place to work

I started with this company in june 21, my time here as a team leader has been very rewarding and thats given me more knowledge and understanding of medication.Management have been very supportive and caring and you can approach them about anything.Management give staff as much support as they can or need to help them through difficult times.I would recommend falkland grange care home to people that either need care or to give care.

Great place to work

I started work with Falkland grange care home in June 21, can honestly say best place iv worked as a carer, management's very understanding and help deal with lots of issues when approached for help.I'm having to leave due to personal reasons but all management are at the end of the phone for me, and can call anytime. I will be going back once my family life circumstances change, iv been told the door is always open for me to come back to my role.Would recommend this place for residents as well as care staff.

Although working with residents was fantastic, it's a shame that they are seriously lacking in staff. Large staff turnover. Lack of support from team leaders, and middle management. Manager of home was suppotive , but anyone below was awful. Too many chiefs. Company think more about money and pretty furniture than welfare of residents. Carers are the bread and butter when caring for residents, shame we were treated so awful. It's a shame as I absolutely loved the job.

Brilliant place to work

I have worked here over a year as a Team Leader and have enjoyed every part of the job. It can be stressful but all jobs are. Management are very supportive and have an open door policy. Lots of training opportunities and opportunities especially for carers to expand their knowledge with medication etc.

Awful place

Management are awful this is the Care home in newbury . They swap your days off and on without telling you . Even trying to talk to management . They belittle you . Your ok if your a brown nose. But if not you don't stand a chance . Staff are walking out . Awful place to work .
