Overall very satisfied
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWorking at FDL gave me much insight into delivering high-standard services to clients. It helps me grow and develop good and effective communication skills along the way. I feel appreciated and respected for my work. Also, I receive all the support I need when I feel stuck. Overall, it is the best job I have had in 14 years.
Pros
Great team

Stressful job and they don’t pay you - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 21 September 2023
I worked at FDL for a month and nearly a month after my last shift I still haven’t received any payments at all. Support and DSP are both useless. The job itself is really not worth the stress, you’re worked like an absolute robot and the pay doesn’t justify it. Please avoid and don’t make the same mistakes I did!!!

Life in this organisation

Don’t bother wasting your time. It’s a very time consuming company which sucks the energy out of your soul, very long hours and you get paid very small change.

Let down
Delivery Associate (Former Employee) - Bournemouth - 25 June 2023
Worked here for about a year and half. The best advice I can give is that you should only apply for this job if you have your own van. The job itself can be physical, I consider myself quite quick and fit so I could finish the job in around 6 hours and collect a day rate which I enjoyed. I had no problems with management whatsoever. I got on very well with them and had help whenever I needed. However the van hire had stressed me out beyond belief. I left on good terms with no ill feeling, until about month later I had been sent a bill for £2000 for damages for the vans I used in my time there. All completely minor damages such as marks and minuscule scratches that you can’t even see. This completely changed my view about the whole company. You are self employed and replaceable so you are treated as a number. You have to pay your own fuel. You aren’t guaranteed 5 days and you have no idea of your work schedule for each week. Good for short term work, but wouldn’t advise for a long term career here. Absolute money grabbing snakes when it comes to the van hire.
Pros
Easy work
Cons
Work not consistent. Van hire. No opportunities.

Too much work so little pay
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Rochester, Kent - 24 May 2023
The work is too much and really heavy. We have little breaks and it is extremely difficult. Management do not speak English and they prefer Romanian over others.

Good company
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Dne2 - 3 April 2023
Sometimes hard work. Only every had 2 problems with wages being wrong but got it sorted the same day. Bad part. Having to wait longer than expected for final payment.

Terrible management, no job security
Multi Drop Delivery Driver - Full Time (Former Employee) - Wednesbury - 30 March 2023
Treat you unfairly, Pay seems good but you're self employed, pay your own fuel and van rental, No job security. Blame you for van issues, no communication and passive aggressive

Stressful and bad paid
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - DHA2 - 9 February 2023
For a 3 cm scratch on the van they charged me £900. Be careful with this company. You don't even have time to go to the toilet and you will not eat during the day. You won't be able to have a life anymore.

A lot your not told…
Self Employed Courier (Current Employee) - Castle Donington, Leicestershire - 6 February 2023
Initial training completed by Amazon, a lot of which is great in theory, but doesn’t happen in real life as you don’t have enough time. Loading is easy, routes are hit and miss with the number of stops and parcels very high, but the area your in makes the difference. Some areas are relatively easy, others are a nightmare. Narrow roads, lots of parked cars and endless instructions from the app telling you to perform a u-turn makes the number of drops per hour required impossible. Van will get damaged, which you have to pay for. This is not mentioned during training or when you take on the van. You can’t refuse to deliver somewhere in case you believe you’ll damage the van as you must complete your route to be paid, or you’ll be sacked.

Really good company.
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Cambridge - 30 January 2023
Delivery job is great. When you loaded and out, you are by yourself. Sometimes it's long hours as route planning is bad, so you finish when done with delivery and that sometimes is quite late.
Pros
Nice management, good co-workers
Cons
Long hours

The worst company I’ve ever worked for
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Leeds, West Yorkshire - 31 December 2022
The worst company I have ever worked for. It’s extremely physically demanding with a lack of empathy from the managers. 11 hours work every day is a very tough way of making a living. There would also be situations where I would not be given shifts, but I would still be paying for rental of the van so on those days I would be losing money rather than making it. Following my resignation I thought I was done with this company’s trial and tribulations, but no - I was charged £800 in ‘damages’ to the van I used, when all these damages were actually scratches - utterly ridiculous. You’re provided with no legal protection, even in terms of basic health and safety. The pay is not worth the emotional stress this company has caused me.
Pros
None
Cons
Everything

Physically demanding
Multi-drop delivery driver (Former Employee) - Enfield - 22 November 2022
Too much load to complete withing the hours allocated unless you run from door to door which is extremally physically demanding. When I stopped to eat a sandwich at lunch time they called my mobile to ask why my van was not moving and told me to eat while i drive.

Delivery driver
Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Norwich, Norfolk - 7 November 2022
It is a good place to work, payments are always on time. You know your work. There are a lot of rules, about performance, safety, and etc. but as soon you get with them, everything is fine after.

Bad services
Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Grays - 30 September 2022
People at work are friendly, also managers tries to help you. But the company does big business with the vans. Over charge you if any damage founded. Fake damages just to charge you. If you plan holidays (which are unpaid obviously as self employed), forget about your last month money that you are aspecting. Maybe you will get paid few weeks after you came back to work. Basically you will keep working for free for long time until they don’t decide to start to pay you. The office service is very very slow!

Very stressful and unstable job
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Enfield - 7 May 2022
work for them for 7 months during the lockdown it was fine then it was that every month that passed the packages that had to be distributed doubled they forced me to move to a larger van in which they gave me up to 450 packages to distribute in a day in 9 hours and when and at They were already sending me drivers of small vans for 6 hours to take packages from which they deducted £1 for each package they took from me. As a result, they gave me a larger van for which I paid £50 more per week, per day only. They paid me £20 more but they gave me double the number of packages to deliver, so they sent other delivery men with small vans to take 30 or 40 packages from me, and that's when they gave you jobs because there were weeks when I worked 3 days and 1, they only gave me half a route and the van still had to be paid for
