Insights into FGH Security
What people like
- Inclusive work environment
- General feeling of work happiness
- Clear sense of purpose
Caring management
Event Security Officer (Current Employee) - Birmingham - 29 October 2023
With event work, each job is different. I've found with FGH they will put in time and training with everyone also if you seek further or skilled training and have proven they again will help and assist. To work for them I have enjoyed it. Working events all over the UK. But they don't just have events also sites to cover on a regular basis and door work. Like any company or job it's the team around you that make your day and job enjoyable and most I have worked with have done this.
Pros
Good pay, wide range of work, catering on long jobs ie festivals etc. Discounslte at retail outlets and more
Cons
Slow to confirm work.

Great opportunities for progression and development
Project Manager (Current Employee) - Lancaster - 1 September 2023
There is not 'typical day at work' here. The role is varied and interesting with options for office based and home based working, as well as the opportunity for front-line security work, sometimes including international trips, especially during festival season. I have learned a great deal while working here due to the level of investment in learning and development. I have, for example, achieved Level 3 Spectator Safety, Level 5 Crowd Management, and Level 3 Safeguarding qualifications in the past 12 months. I'm now doing two degrees simultaneously on the company dime. The management here genuinely care about each other and about the wider team. The culture is really positive and provides ample opportunities to succeed. Hard work is absolutely required. If I have one criticism of the company, it is that workload is high and tolerance of a lack of effort is low. That being said, the approach is to work with the team member to improve rather than just to criticise even in these cases. The most enjoyable part of the job for me is the variety and the challenging nature of the work always giving me an opportunity to stretch myself.
Pros
Professional Development opportunities
Cons
Workload can be very heavy at peak periods

Really good company to work for
Area Manager (Current Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 28 August 2023
Worked shortly as an area manager, they definitely do look after you and there's loads of progression available, shame I couldn't work there longer as everyone is really nice

They talk a big talk about being industry leaders in looking after their staff but it's all rubbish to get as many people on the books as possible.
Security Supervisor (Current Employee) - UK wide - 25 August 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? You get to work with genuinely nice people who are passionate about security. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Very few shifts have breaks. Shifts can be very long (16+ hours). Not much in the way of support or welfare. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Fend for yourself. Dog eat dog. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Turn up, wait around for ages for your deployment, then once deployed you'll stand in the same place until the end of your shift. If you're lucky you'll get stood down around the time you expect your shift to end but don't be suprised if you're still waiting for someone an hour later.

Interesting
Event Steward (Former Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 3 July 2023
Lots of lovely people to meet. Management can be a bit rude depending on being new. Can see favouritism. Bit unorganised and didn’t allow to select shifts. Working environment was okay.

Fun workplace, bad management
Supervisor (Current Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 18 May 2023
Management are bullies. Miss a shift due to illness? Shifts cancelled. Miss a shift due to a family emergency? More shifts cancelled. As ur on zero hours they'll do what they want. Managers don't even communicate with a lot of people they seem to get rid of day ik day out. can't keep up with the contracts they have so you end up working with sub contractors who don't know the bar/venue

16 Years and counting
Training development officer and security supervisor (Current Employee) - Lancaster - 8 February 2023
Having first started working for FGH in 2006 I can honestly say it is a fantastic place to work. I have enjoyed various roles within the company and have been afforded a number of professional development opportunities. FGH like to promote from within and definitely reward hard work and effort. It is amazing to see how much the company has grown over the years and how much the company gives back to its staff to acknowledge their contribution to that growth. When it comes to the festival season in particular, the sense of team spirit that exists at every level is exemplary.
Pros
Lots of free training provided. Flexible working. Supportive culture. Great sense of team work
Cons
Festival hours can be long - but it's well worth it!!!!!
