Overworked and underpaid
Associate (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 20 November 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by Indeed- A lot of responsibility for little reward - Poor on the job training - Inconsistent messaging from management - Inconsistent company culture across different departments - Huge disparity in pay within teams and across departments. The job is the job and people should be paid fairly equally.

Very difficult to progress internally. Great flexilibility, work life balance but not fair recognition between colleagues. People get away with so much

Good benefits, salary not competitive
Associate (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 22 July 2023
Good work/life balance but hard to progress and bonus and salary is very low compared to the market. Management is usually good but it really depends. Need to do better with diversity and inclusion

Poor benefits, poor culture, weak leadership...
Senior Associate (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 8 May 2023
Not so new CEO and ExCo team are driving experienced staff out the door, particularly in Supervision, as result of taking a sledgehammer to Pay&Reward during a cost of living crisis; not responding in any meaningful way to staff survey results which were truly attrocious last year; stifling direct questions in townhalls; and presiding over a culture where we'd have serious misgivings were it firms under our direct supervision.

Productive and fun workplace
Anonymous (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 3 May 2023
My experience of working at the UK Regulation has been great. People are very friendly and helpful. I do think there is still some work to do to improve the culture. Pros Great place to work Interesting work Insight into regulation People are friendly and willing to help Cons Lack of training Inconsistent processes

Great company into a positive change
Team Administrator (Current Employee) - London - 20 December 2022
Interesting, dynamic, impacting, deeply thought through. Many things can change to improve further, but isn't the change the sign an entity is alive? When the great Ethos will be achieved this company will lead unrivalled: absolutely worthy so to be part of the process.
Pros
2h WellBeing time at week that you can spend at the fab internal gym
Cons
A fast changing environment can be difficult to cope with

Forward Looking Employer
FCA actually walk the walk when it comes to diversity and inclusion. Salaries are reasonable and above national average. Hybrid working week with plenty of flexibility as long as you get the job done.

Too much work load, doesn't match salary
Left organisation (Former Employee) - London - 14 September 2022
Too much work load, doesn't match salary. Had to work some weekends to catch up. But really good to work for as you get a wider exposure to the financial services industry

Great place to work
Senior Associate (Current Employee) - Stratford, Greater London - 27 May 2022
Friendly environment to work in, easy to talk to employees at all levels of the organisation irrespective of your position. Senior members of staff are approachable and friendly, easy to collaborate with teams across the organisation. Roles offer challenging workstreams, great job satisfaction.

Jobs at Financial Conduct Authority
Nasty work environment.
Senior Associate (Former Employee) - Stratford - 17 April 2022
Dog eat dog culture. Lots of ‘dead wood’ entrenched in senior management positions. The authorisations department is know to have a particularly ‘toxic’ culture.
Cons
Unhelpful, uncaring culture

Unhappy Experience
Administrator (F.T.C) (Former Employee) - London - 13 April 2022
Minimal job shadowing and no formal training programme given at the start of employment, but was expected to be able to execute the job efficiently on par with a long term employee - tall order! Even more of a shocker, after being there a couple of months I was expected to take on additional specialist duties I was not qualified to do (in a paralegal capacity) Outcome: Long story short; had to receive Counselling from the experience.

Too much change too quickly, poor progression prospects
Facilities Manager (Current Employee) - London - 9 March 2022
Worked here for 12 years. Organisational culture has changed for the worst over the past 5 years, lost its humanity, everyone is just a number. Poor progression prospects, lack of mentoring, too much instability and constant changes to structures and management creates a very uneasy, cold and unstable work environment. Work/life balance is good however.

Not great, not bad
Associate (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 5 March 2022
I love the work that we do. It is interesting and engaging. Job security is great. Colleagues are amazing. The pay isn't great. It is low and you will easily find better pay elsewhere. But it is also not unbearable (considering your circumstances). At the moment, staff morale is very poor. Definitely the worst in the 2-3 years I have worked here. Many have left and there may be many more once there is clarity on what the new changes being introduced will look like in real terms.
Pros
range of work, interesting, the colleagues, flexible working
Cons
workload, staff shortages, pay

Great place to work
PA to Head of Department (Current Employee) - WFH - 15 January 2022
Very fast paced but very collaborative environment. Great networking opportunities and career development opportunities. Restructures are always tough but the company are trying to manage it well.
Pros
Pay Flexibility of work
Cons
Long hours

Once upon a time….
It was a good place to work once but now going down the drains. Hours are stretched and most teams are short staffed. Everyone is struggling but management doesn’t seem to care. There is no empathy for staff from management. Staff morale is at all time low due to recent pay cuts and the current transformation programme. I don’t see things getting any better given the transformation programme is going to last for next 3 years. I can only see more people leaving the FCA.
Cons
Long hours, low pay, no bonus, ridiculous management.

A Great Place to work because of the people that worked there
Supervisor (Supervision Hub) (Former Employee) - Stratford, Greater London - 7 May 2020
My Role at the FCA was always going to be a challenging one.
The work culture was very dated and it took nearly 6 years to show any improvement. The reason why I stayed so long was, the people that worked there. They made the going into the office and the work itself a whole lot easier and more enjoyable.
I was there for 9 years in total and that was because, although I didn't really enjoy the role, the people made up for it.
Thankfully as I left things were starting to improve in terms of the Working Culture and environment so I think if your considering it, then go for it.
