Not a great place to work

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Good management. All systems in place. But most of the staff want to compromise on quality to please the management . Didn't receive any support from colleagues.

Very poor pay for the responsibility

Very low paid for the responsibility you have, poor working patterns with minimal time off between shifts, no communication between drivers and management, who just want buses out on the road regardless of driver wellbeing.

Not bad....not great either

Management are clueless about the corniche roads and even more clueless about rotas. Drivers support each other as managers couldn't care less. Kiss your social goodbye and try not let the public get to you as the higher ups will believe the public over you every time

Long hours & high stress

Given little support, unresponsive to employees needs, high level pressure from management, intolerant to sickness or time off.High level of abuse from customers. Not suitable for drivers with young families. Equally & diversity support seriously lacking.

Good at times

Will send you put in a 30+ degrees cab with a broken fan that only blows warm or in winter a heater that takes 3 hours to heat up and won't even clear the screen.

Pros

Good colleagues

Cons

Rotas and shifts

Long stressful days

Highly stressful job dealing with the public while driving a busy bus.Long shifts and poor work life balance.Company management are constantly on your back for petty incidents.

Stressful work place but fun job if you can deal with the public

To many rules, drivers are constantly asked by management to do overtime via messages on the ticket machine, pay is less if you work out with the city centre depots but your still driving in the city centre, job itself is getting g better you get double time if you work a rest day but passengers can get to you if you can keep your head down then you'll enjoy it

Pros

Free bus travel and cheap rail tickets

Cons

Long hours lots of rules management bugging you to work rest days

shocking

shocking shift patterns.Remenber you'll be working with a company that works almost 24/7 So be prepared to work within those hours with little turnaround times.

Pros

canteen

Cons

everything

Wouldn’t recommend

Long hours for poor pay a lot of unpaid travelling to and from Sheffield from Rotherham. Some good managers but more bad ones. Job never feels secure.

Straight forward

What is advertised on the bus, Facebook and the radio is not true. Pay is not equal, training is more about the company agenda than the job. Customers can be abusive although some customers are nice.

Cons

Long hours, poor pay

Management strict.

Good place to work but no work life balance. The general public can be difficult at times and in this industry the customer is always right until proven guilty.Driving in west lothian is not that bad compared to driving in Edinburgh which is really stressful because of all the road works and tram works etc.

Pros

Free travel.

Cons

Various shifts until you do your time.

Never again

Stay as far as you can from any bus company.Working hours are a joke and so is the pay.Working 12h shifts and paid only for 10. Change of shift with only 24h notice.

If you are young and have no family go for it, if you have a family do not go for this job as you will find yourself trapoed stress and unhealthy

This is the type of job you will do well if you are single with no family, if you have a family its a difficult job, i do not recommend this job as a ling time career as your health will rapidly deteriorate I've been in the job just iver 5years and i have back pains and find troubke sleeping also the pay isn't great for the amount of hours you out in also you are bus driver /everything else. I love driving and meeting new customers but the company does not make it easy with the crazy rota paterns

Pros

Great pension scheme, good colleagues

Cons

Low pay, stressful Rotas, customer complains

What a mess…

If you have life & family, think about a different place to work as you’ll be dealing with:- long hours (some shifts are 12-13hrs long)- a lot of stress- poor bus maintenance - poor management - shift patterns are horrible and your sleeping pattern will be all over the place so you’ll always feel tired - bus schedules need a lot of improvement The company doesn’t respect you and they put money & business before the people.

Rubbish management company going down hill

New management are rubbish company don't have clue and no work life balance and don't care about employees you have to be in certain clicks to get promotion or move anywhere within company and vehicles are very poorly maintained all have engine light and other fixable problems most heaters don't work at winter time and they expect you to go for ages without toilet breaks as they closed alot down thru lough covid but never reopened the even tho they were ideal for drivers
