Bad management
Crew Member (Former Employee) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire - 15 September 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWorked there for two years, met some amazing crew/ managers. Values weren't followed, managers had favourites. I'd rate it a 2 but the pay was really good

Good place to work
Crew Member (Current Employee) - Bournemouth, Dorset - 12 September 2023
Nice place to work… the atmosphere is relaxed and the managers are very good. The shifts are long, but they also can be adapted to you. It can be busy but overall I enjoyed working there.

Inhospitable
Quality Control (Former Employee) - Castleford - 9 September 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Terrible management no accountability will look to blame crew for their mistakes What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Having to deal with the management team, they will constantly say one thing then do another and will tell you contradictory things and tell you off for questioning them on the contradictions What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Very hostile and everyone is for them selfs What is a typical day like for you at the company? Come to work find out what job your doing and then have to do the management's jobs on top

Workplace was highly understaffed with high amounts of stress. Poor uppermanagement but the atmosphere and culture was okay
Crew Member (Former Employee) - Bristol - 5 September 2023
In all honest, it was a very tiresome job mentally and physically. Typically, you clock in and you're placed where ever you're needed. It is a very intense job depending on the hours. I personally worked with a great team but my pov may differ from others. I've learned a lot throughout my three years at five guys, especially in terms of my teamwork, interpersonal and time management skills. Upper management was quite poor, expecting sales targets that are unrealistic, especially with the current living crisis what can you expect? The hardest part of the role was getting shifts/hours. I informed upper management that I would like to change my contract to full-time and nothing was done except a period of 3-4 months of being in a "full-time" role which later switched back to minimum. Easily manipulated due to the fact that my contract was never changed to full time and they took advantage of that when it suited the company's low sales. In all honesty the best part of the role was the free meals and paid breaks.
Pros
Paid Breaks & Free Lunch
Cons
long and intense hours

Overworked and forced “culture”
Crew Member (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 5 September 2023
Free food and secret bonuses are the only good things. Company claims to be a “family” but is quick to point fingers and push blame. Management are delusional and lots of them power trip / expect unreasonable things. Work life balance is awful and rota can be given out with as little as 48h notice. Shifts can be very long 7-4 12-9 4-2 Physically demanding and tiring job especially if the store is busy.

Fun workplace
Crew member (Former Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 4 September 2023
Had decent benefits along with paid breaks which is nice. Fast paced and can be quite stressful at times but overall very rewarding and very much so appreciate by the other crew members and managers.

Hard and demanding. Avoid being a manager there
General Manager (Former Employee) - Cardiff - 2 September 2023
Physically hard work with a terrible work life balance if you are a manager. Just 3 shifts, 7-4, 12-9 and 4 until close which could be 2 am. Not enough people scheduled and an out dated mystery shopper program on which you are judged on. You have no time put aside to do any work off the floor and are expected to complete this in your own time. Managers and head office are too demanding and not realistic on your work life balance. It’s something they pay lip service too.
Cons
Long hours, night shifts

Fun, well paying, kind managers
Crew Member (Current Employee) - Aberdeen, Aberdeen City - 31 August 2023
Title: Thriving as a Five Guys Crew Member! Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) Being part of the Five Guys crew has been an amazing experience. The teamwork, quality ingredients, and fast-paced environment make every shift rewarding. From day one, the supportive staff and emphasis on quality have made this job stand out. The open kitchen setup keeps things exciting, and the focus on fresh ingredients makes me proud to be part of the team. If you're looking for an energetic and fulfilling job, Five Guys is the place to be!

Jobs at Five Guys
hardwork
Crew Member (Current Employee) - Bristol - 31 August 2023
The job is stressful with a lot of physical work such as unloading, cutting fries, washing dishes, cleaning fryers, cleaning toilets etc. but simultaneously it pays you a competitive salary.

Good plenty hours
Crew Member (Current Employee) - Trafford Centre, Greater Manchester - 26 August 2023
Only good for the money secret shopper bonus is very good but management care little about you and breaks are way too short for how many hours you do.

Hard labour …
Team Member (Former Employee) - West Kensington - 26 August 2023
Surprisingly quite hard labour jobs, job can get quite boring if your are just on the tills all day and extremely fast paced expected to learn everything very fast but pay every 2 weeks and £10ph

Fun workplace due to staff being friendly, managers being understanding for personal matters etc.
Grill Chef (Former Employee) - Brent Cross Station, Greater London - 25 August 2023
GM had a gambling addiction and would ask anyone for money, major issues with staff refusing to come work, the management always on smoke break. Little to no career progress

Good company to work for
N/A (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 24 August 2023
Upper management trying to take care it's people. Opportunities to progress if you are willing to go above and beyond . However instead of keeping things simple they're doing the opposite (probably they're more and more in head office who need to justify their salaries somehow).

Okay place to work
Supervisor (Former Employee) - Birmingham - 24 August 2023
Not too bad. Late nights and early mornings but easy to get a lot of hours especially in busy times like December. The job is physically exhausting but manageable.

Nice staff, but boring and not taken care of
Assistant Manager (Current Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 18 August 2023
Really nice staff, but the job is boring and mundane. The genera manager only cares about numbers and not people. Closes as late as 1 in the morning with a lot of cleaning (there are no cleaners), so the staff scrub everything. Good pay, but 45 hours/week is not necessary.
