Overall a great place to work, the shift pattern was simply brilliant. Your colleagues are the best bunch of people to work with. Salary not quite so good, a little low relative to industry and held lower at Exeter due to no local competition. Ultimately a moot point as very sadly Flybe is in administration with the loss of thousands of jobs.

Excellent Training Procedures

The course structure of the Type rating course with Flybe was outstanding and well rehearsed. On the line training was hardworking and fun. Great Airline to have worked for and a real shame that it was unable to survive in this current economic climate causing it to go into Administration.

Long days disillusioned management

Post failure response. Sadly historically very poor business decisions and development with a lack of taking problems head on. Not reducing fleet size made this an unviable business.

Long hours

Poor treatment of staff, management system promoting segregation. Impossible to get any time off when required. Very poor financial management leading to constant trading issues.

Fun but stressful

Working as cabin crew is a rewarding and fun career, however it can be very stressful due to the fast pace style of work and high security. Management is very poor at talking to staff about issues within the company which only adds to the stress of the job. Job security can be a problem due to the volatile nature of the aviation sector.

Apalling pay/expectations

Bad management. Poor pay for what is expected of you.. Location not the best. On the whole friendly staff. Not even free tea and coffee. I don't really have anything else to say.

Very bad work culture

Very poor management and unfriendly culture, everyone works alone and no team work. Employees are not valued and efforts to make things better are not appreciated, people take credits for other people's efforts. Supervisors undermine their team to protect their roles, and there are no opportunities for progression. The company keeps making losses as result and people leaving constantly.

Enjoyable job, poor management

Enjoyable job day to day but poor management, long hours with no thanks and shocking meals that wouldn’t feed a 5 year old. A lot of bullying within the company that management are aware of but do nothing about.

Flybe ( Sitel)

Since this department has been outsourced to Sitel employee satisfaction has decreased having said its not to bad to work there however they do like their big brother systems.

Exciting industry

Flybe is the UK's largest regional airline operating over 400 flights a day across the UK and Europe. My role was to aid in managing the daily flying program utilizing a team of assistants. I solution find during times of operational disruption i.e. adverse weather, technical faults with aircraft, airport and airspace closures then communicate and changes through telephone, email and live reporting systems with crew, airport management, handling agents, caterers and cleaning services around the network to minimise the disruption to passengers and commercial cost to the business. My role also encompasses the management of travel and transport for staff around the country and Europe, as well as liaising with pilots and cabin crew regarding roster changes and/or adhoc requests. I also undertake daily team administration and data entry/management reporting duties. The role is often demanding with conflicting deadlines and requires the ability to prioritise workloads for not only myself, but also the team whilst continuing to be ever commercially vigilant in decision making.

Company in Difficulty

Flybe is undergoing a management transformation in light of financial difficulties. The new management team have no interest in Aircraft Maintenance and are trying to off load this side of the business. As a result although I enjoy the challenges my current position imposes and I work with a great team of Engineers. The lack of commitment by the new management team and the insecurity that this brings with it make the working environment stressful and extremely unpleasant. As a result the best people are leaving the company and I find myself looking for new employment.

Challenging and dynamic.

A typical day would include management meetings. Dealing with customers and suppliers. Overseeing and following up on operational issues. Planning staff training. Motivating and developing staff. Colleagues are generally committed and supportive. Managing the resource to meet the operational requirement can be challenging. The variety of tasks makes for an interesting and varied work day.
