Not a bad job but paid less than other places

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
In Penrith the staff get paid less than For Farmers other mills. The job pays 5% below average drivers salary. The management keep promising to review it.

Pros

Good night out money

Cons

Poor pay

Terrible company

The clueless management have ruined this company it is being run into the ground. The workers in the mill are so stressed out and not happy some have started leaving. The lads told me not long ago it was the best place to work a happy workforce and everyone got stuck in but not anymore.I gave up a job with what I thought was terrible company to come here but realised it was great job after all so didn't stop long at For Farmers I have returned to my old job after a bit of grovling. The money looks good but it's days, nights, weekends and bank holidays 12 hour shifts, You have no life.Believe me don't give up what you think is a bad job to come here money is not everything.

Pros

Getting out of there, returning to my old job

Cons

Clueless management.

Driver

Forfarmers as a Company have a lot of good benefits, after working there15 years, unfortunately whilst employed as a driver at Preston the Management is poor. The Operaton Manager has no idea the worst Manager I have ever worked with and neither does the transport Manager who I'm surprised still hold their operators license, It needs a big shake up to succeed.

Good place to work

If you turn up and do your job properly it will be absolutely fine.If you mess up and admit your mistakes and take it on the chin you will gain good rapport. It's a job as with any job, do your job properly you won't have many issues.Nothings perfect.

Never work here

Worked here 2.5 years, mispaid for the whole time I worked there. Tried to arrange several meetings with H.R and managers, and each cancelled at last minute without notification. Boys on shop floor are sound, management on site have no clue how to treat people unless you are family or friends Unfortunately the management don't even know the meaning of nepotism.Unless you play golf I would suggest avoiding the place at all costs

Pros

Occasionally got bacon roll

Cons

Everything

A good company to work for

I left a job that I had been in for years to come here, so it was a bit of a gamble. The trainer was good, there is a lot to take in. The job is hard, it is not your normal driving job, the work is varied, going somewhere different every day. I meet lots of interesting people and get to visit some really lovely places.the morale is ok now, we had one driver that caused a load of problems, stirring and making trouble, a really nasty piece of work but thankfully they have gone.would i suggest working here to a friend? yes.

Pros

not boring motorway driving

Cons

working with some complete idiots

Transport Exeter

Gone down hill last six Months . All overtime cut apart from Nightshift who doing loads. Never a thank you . Money is rubbish transport think that you can do 15 hour days . Forget they shouldn’t be telling people that as against the law !!! . Good Days are gone in Exeter and Most drivers can’t wait till leave as lots more money at other localFeed companies . Not sure what else I can say promise world and don’t deliver

Pros

Can’t think any if am honest

Cons

Pass going home

Poor pay

The works ok if you don’t mind working amongst cow poo and rotten chicken feed. Have to swap wagons all the time bit annoying. Wage very poor and paid less than other Forfarmers mills!

Pros

Nice countryside

Cons

Poor pay

Decent job rubbish wage

The job itself is ok, but the wage is awful. You are a HGV driver so the job is self explanatory you drive to farms and deliver feed. The wage is awful for the role and throughout the company drivers get different wages. I.e. different depots different wages

Pros

Freedom

Cons

Wage

Good company to work for

The 2 transports managers tweedle Dee and tweedle bully could do with man management skills but as far as the driving and the farms and loads it’s good!! Take on new drivers putting them on expensive kit which they crash but can’t blame the new guy!!Driver trainer does nothing at all All office staff are against you!! 1 planner is sound the other is a bully

Pros

Plenty of rest days

Cons

Bullys in office

an excellent place to work

Loved working there the pay could have been a bit higher because you work hard for your money in some quite demanding situations, and sometimes you find yourself picking up the slack from other depots or getting the worse runs because there drivers don’t want to do it so to deal with those annoyances a little more moneywould go a long way. I only left due to being offered a senior position with the MOD but wish I hadn’t left if I’m honest great group of guys to work with. If I’m honest I would take my old job back tomorrow.

Pros

Great guys to work with, transport manager James Bevan was great, driver trainer mark hobbs great trainer very approachable.

Cons

Pay a bit to low for the hours you can put in

Productive workplace, everybody helps each other.

Good place to work. I've been here since November 2019. The mill staff are friendly and so are the office staff, drivers give some good banter but are all nice. The shifts take some getting use to but it's not to bad after that.Money is ok, could always be better but everybody says that about any job.

Pros

Friendly staff. Free tea/coffe.

Cons

Odd shifts.

Not fun work place

Management looking over u all day. Working in warehouse in loads of dust same thing every day the work people have a good laugh turn up load lorrys and bag animal feed

The actual work is good. Let down by poor management and organizational skills.

Long hours. Drivers are pushed on. Little or no social life. Management tell you one thing and do another. It's very much an us and them culture. The hardest part about the job is long hours.
