Supportive management

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Work environment great, management very supportive, could do much better by giving enough travel time in between calls, they try to have all calls covered at the expense of carers

Pros

Great travel time pay

Cons

Rota just changes middle of calls

not the worst company to work for

not a bad company to work for, i have stable hours so i’m happy with that and i love my run and all my co workers, some care assistants in the office are good some are absolutely tragic but i think you get that in every job, some people in the office can be rude but just give it them back that’s what i do lol, i think the major downfall of this job is christmas, we get like £2 extra a hour which is so unfair, i think it should be double !!!

Pros

i have solid hours

Cons

not everyone gets solid hours

Great place to work

Great place to work at. Not all hours are difficult they are quite flexible when it comes to hours but a lot of walking if you don’t have a car. I love the job and meeting new people though

Stressful no communication , pay poor, office staff don’t care 🤷‍♀️

Worked at Fosse a few months ago, management don’t think they even know what it means ,always fobbing staff off with lies , no communication , carers report things to office nothing ever gets done , always changing your run round , and adding calls on or taking them off and giving to their family and friends , half of the carers don’t have a caring bone in their bodies , pay is poor, no breaks which is against the law , I wouldn’t let this company look after my dog , unreliable, don’t trust anything they say it’s like working in a kindergarten , you don’t get no help from office feel like your on your own

Pros

None

Cons

Long hours, poor pay no support

Awful and extremely rude office staff.

Very very rude and office staff constantly call you on days off asking for more and more work from you. Argumentative and don’t care about home-work life balance. Take take take and no give, and no appreciation.

Great teamwork unit

I have worked at fosse for over 3 years. I have enjoyed every minute of it. Im currently doing my diploma through work for health and social care too. The job gives so many opportunities and are very understanding when needing extra support. There can be times when it gets stressful but you have co workers and managers that help you and guide you. I enjoy the outings and helping service users still have fun and lead a fulfilled day.

Pros

Learning and opportunities

Was a good place to work at until everyone team up on you

Service users say they feel ignored as do staff who work in the community.constantly relaying infomatipn backward and forward every time. Lots of back stabbing and gossip between care and office staff some of the team was nice but not all. Expected to work long hours. Travel time and millage never seems to match what i did. No walking time as well as a walker they command you to join up on with a driver. Then a driver dumped you and said u got to walk there even though the calls are quite close. No compassion from the office when a service user passes away at all. Supposed to have a 2-4 hour gap between morning/lunch and tea/bed visits but this never happened. Including for medications as well which this has been reported on meany cases I was lucky if i got an hour. I enjoyed the job and the service users company but like most care companies profit comes before anything else. Also I’ve still not received my P45 yet at all apparently is still in the post but it might got lost in the post

Pros

Good clients and workers

Cons

Poor workers and mangment

Thank you for your lovely review. Hope you're getting on okay!

Great place to work!

I applied to work for Fosse at the beginning of August, and was contacted by the recruitment officer within 2 days, and began my training after 4 days. Once I completed training the recruitment officer got in contact to let me know what stage my DBS was at, alongside my references, I was kept informed of each stage and once everything was through I was invited in to the office to sign everything, collect uniform, PPE and sort out my shadow shifts. Here I met the branch manager, care coordinator and recruitment officer face to face. I did my shadow shifts and felt competent to go out to work alone. I have done a mixture of double and single calls, and thoroughly enjoyed each shift. For me personally, knowing there is always a senior member of staff I can contact has really helped - be it 630am or 1030pm! There’s a true sense of ‘family’ from the entire team, everyone gets along with each other and can lean on one another for support if it’s needed. We are sent text messages if sick cover is needed, but there’s no pressure to accept the shift if you can’t do it. I asked for 4 shifts a week, which I do get even on zero hours, I pick up more shifts where I can because I love going to the service users homes and making sure that they are taken care of. The pros of working for Fosse are being part of an incredible team, weekly pay, and knowing you’re doing something amazing in every single call you do. The only cons would be not having all the time in the world with your service users - I could spend all day at their home keeping them company.

Recruitment process

Just finished arranging my first shifts after the checks, interview, training online due to the pandemic. There is always support when you need it. Everyone appears friendly and willing to help wherever possible. So happy I'll be working with everyone at Fosse.

Welcome to team Fosse! Please do let our recruitment or training teams know if you have any questions or worries when you head out on shift - we know it can be quite daunting until you get into a routine :)

Do not recommend

The training was good and they were supportive considering it was all online. But as I understand it you are supposed to be with someone training for the job for atleast 3 months I definitely was not. I did one shadow shift then I was put as a secondary employee then I've already been out by myself. Now I understand that being a walking care worker it involves alot of walking. During the interview process we discussed the area that I could cover and the ones I could not. So far I've been in all the areas I could not cover and not the one I could. I was being expected to walk an hour from one visit to the next then back to the first then turn around and come right back again. This is why the service users complain we are late. It is not fair on them and it is not fair on us. The line manager and some at the offices obviously do not listen to you during the interview process because they evidently did not listen to reasons I gave for only being able to work a certain area. The woman at the head office though couldn't be more apologetic about the situation. Not a good company to work for. I definitely would not recommend.

Good morning, I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with us. We encourage all our care staff to communicate any concerns as soon as they arise so they can be dealt with as soon as possible. Our recruitment and training team stay in contact with our staff so they always have a familiar face (or voice) to go to if they are unsure of, or uncomfortable with, anything, and our coordinators will consider any concerns they are aware of when booking staff into shifts.I would be interested in hearing from you regarding this if you have a moment; perhaps it is not clearly understood in training and beyond that our care staff have as much of a responsibility to ensure they are working in a comfortable and happy environment as we do. It would be great to get your thoughts. collette.compton@fossehealthcare.co.uk Regards, Collette

to many hours and dont get paid for all the hours u do

iam a driver and I get paid for the hours I work in clients house and get nothing for traverling for call to call so I could do a 10 hours a day and only get paid for 6 the rest is traverling which I think is shockin and be low average wage and u get calls put on u with out them asking u first which makes your day longer

Good morning, I am a little concerned regarding your review here as all driving care staff at Mansfield are paid for travel between shifts. When our staff are working long hours they can easily accumulate a coupe of hours just in travel time, so we ensure our staff are compensated. If this is not something which has been automatically reflected on our payslips I would recommend contacting the branch so this can be looked into for you. If you would like to speak to me directly about this or any other concerns, you can do so via collette.compton@fossehealthcare.co.uk.Regards, Collette

Poorly led risky

I would not recommend this company for a number of reasons. The main one being the risk they leave service users at for poor staffing numbers and lac of training. Management is very clicky and pick on certain staff. Also training is not paid. Your just a number to them

I'm sorry to hear you had a poor experience of working with us. Just to address some of the reasons you have stated; All our care staff are given full training before they are booked to work alongside our current staff on shadow shifts to put their training into action. We understand some people require a little more time to get used to the work they are doing - care is not easy! - and we hope our staff feel comfortable enough with us to let us know that is the case before going out on shift alone so it can be addressed. We do sometimes have low staffing numbers; a problem which affects every care company in the UK and a reason why we are continually looking to provide new benefits and develop the loyal care staff we do have. Training is not paid but it is free. This is something our recruitment team make clear when people apply to us. I'm sorry to hear you didn't choose to stay with us and I would very much like to opportunity to speak to you more if you feel you have had any problems, with management or otherwise, which you feel swayed your decision to leave. Please do send us a message through the website if there is anything you think we could improve on or can help you with. Regards, Collette

Care worker derby

I’ll be honest the place is run by cowboys, they are quick to get you in and then no job! you get used for training, none of my group has a job. They offer training for free and no certification after. It’s been 7 months, the company is a joke. Do yourself a favour and work for a more reputable company one which has won awards for there care work. I did and I haven’t looked back since

Training

I have completed two days training and everyone was so polite, and I learned a lot! I got help if needed. Then I had to complete two more days, but the trainer called me and said she would like to do two training days in one to get me finished quicker! I would highly recommend this company!

Awful management

Management is disgraceful, company do not care about employees. Payroll is a joke, wages barely paid on time and when they are not all wages included in pay. Would not recommend working for FOSSE especially if you have children.

Patient care at its worse

After working at a doctor's surgery for many years, a move to a new area forced me to change jobs due to the long commute in the mornings. I started working and it seemed to go well, until the service users started to speak out how badly managed the company is. Time for each as I would still refer to service users as patients was short and you are wanting to do more for them. I left due to bad ethics and was spoken down to by a jumped up supervisor, who had no customer care or empathy, calling all service users money grabbing. I then returned back to my previous role but still kept in touch with many of the older generation so desperate for care that's above standard.

Pros

Management no help, lack of empathy. All they care about is the money

Cons

Long hours, shift pattern. Under paid.

Awful place to work

Worst place ever to work treated like rubbish. Admin are absolutely clueless and are more interested in gossiping than answering phones. Rude staff. Noone does the job as it should be done. Terrible management. Would recommend anyone who gets the job offer to look elsewhere as this is not a good place to be.

Pros

Cons
