Is a lovely place to work but stressful for walkers .
Carer Assistant (Current Employee) - Derby - 24 November 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedLovely place to work but can be stressful if you are walking due to walking from one place to another and travelling distance is always more than 5mins walk. Sometimes 15 minutes walk or more . The company really need to look into that. Most service user are friendly but some are very rude. The job itself is not stressful if you are someone that enjoys caring for others.
Cons
Travel time for walker

Embracing Excellence
Carer (Current Employee) - Newark - 16 November 2023
A typical day at Fosse Healthcare unfolds as a dynamic tapestry of compassion and purpose. Engaging with clients, I've learned the invaluable skill of adapting care to individual needs, fostering both independence and comfort. The management team exemplifies efficiency, readily available for support and guidance, fostering a collaborative environment that empowers personal and professional growth. The workplace culture at Fosse Healthcare is a blend of teamwork and empathy, where every contribution is acknowledged and valued. The hardest part of the job lies in navigating the emotional challenges that come with caring for individuals in vulnerable situations. However, these challenges are outweighed by the profound satisfaction derived from making a positive impact on someone's life—the most enjoyable part of the job. Each day, the smiles and expressions of gratitude from clients serve as a testament to the fulfilling nature of the work we do, creating a workplace that feels like a supportive community.

Amazing place to work
Carer (Current Employee) - Moorfield court - 15 November 2023
I work in an assisted living with fosse where we care for people over the age of 55. Typical day is starting at 7am and finishing at 2:30 or starting at 2:30 and finishing at 10pm. Go into peoples flats and assist them with their needs such as making food, making drinks, showers, getting dressed and assisting them on the toilet. The residents at my work place are amazing and so lovely to be around, easy to talk to and so so so so sweet. Fosse are amazing with making sure their staff do the best to their ability with regular training and support. In my case, management are amazing ! My boss and team leader are so helpful with everything. They give advice, help with clients that I’m late to and cover our backs at work. Our team is more like family and we all get along so well, they are all amazing people who are good at their jobs and care about our clients. Only thing about working with fosse is that you begin to love with the people you will be doing care for. You’d think that is a good thing but you get to know them, build a relationship with them and some of them pass away or go into a care home. From experience, it is the hardest part of the job and so heartbreaking when it happens. But the most enjoyable thing about my job is seeing the smile of the people’s faces. Even if we are in there 2x a day for 15 mins each time, that’s all some people get so it’s lovely for them to have some company. If I make them happy even just for 15 mins, that’s a job well done for me :) overall, a amazing place to work with great people by your side and there are opportunities like NVQ to climb -
Pros
You get to meet amazing people
Cons
Lots of hours work, always shifts to cover even on days off

It's ok, but probably isn't suited for most
Carer (Current Employee) - Lincoln, Lincolnshire - 15 November 2023
Taking care of people is hard work. You have to make sure you know how to handle individual person. Every action you take must be logged in detail on your phone and you have to do that for 15 or so person in a day. What I mean by isn't suited for most people is you have to deal with faeces and urine often which will probably turn away most, along with needing to deal with situations such as working in a dirty environment, and caring for those with dementia screaming at you in distress. Good thing about this job I would say is making those whom you care happy. It's really nice to make them smile after taking care of them. If you have a car, you have to travel very long distances and isn't the best thing.
Pros
None
Cons
Low wages, dealing with bodily fluids, having to log everything you do

Rewarding working
Carer (Current Employee) - Newark-on-Trent - 15 November 2023
The work is enjoyable and rewarding, but there is often not enough travelling time in between visits, because we have to drive from client to client. The management is often not talking to each other. But it brilliant to meet new people.
Pros
Rewarding
Cons
Not enough travelling time

Lot of work little pay
Carer (Current Employee) - Mansfield, Nottinghamshire - 14 July 2023
This job requires a lot of work for not a lot of money. It’s draining and you feel overworked but underpaid one week and the next there is no shifts for you.

Overworked and underpaid
Home Carer (Former Employee) - Lincoln - 19 September 2022
The company could not keep any carers around long enough to establish a well working system. I worked here for over a year and was constantly pushed to my limits. I did not feel at all valued or respected by the company, and was not paid nearly enough for all the work I was required to do.

Great Company, and they CARE!!
Carer (Current Employee) - Mansfield, Nottinghamshire - 26 November 2021
As with any healthcare company (and I've worked for a few) - if you put in the passion, then you succeed. If you are an individual who wants to start and finish at a set time, then maybe this is not the right role. I always go over on my calls, not by much, but I like to ensure that my service users have everything that has been specified by the care plan. I like my service users to feel valued and cared for with every visit. Yes sometimes I've had extra calls, like with any company, the office can't foresee sickness or other staff not turning up for work and they too want to ensure that a service user has a call and are not missed. Some staff have the idea that the office staff and management do nothing. These managers and senior management put a uniform on and go out themselves when the goings tough, I've never seen other care companies do this!! If it wasn't for the office staff, then we wouldn't have calls, and if it wasn't for the office increasing the amount of service users through the council, then these service users would be in hospitals or suffering as they need care. This is a job and a company that requires you 'to care' - you can't be trained how to care, its within you. Fosse Healthcare are a company that care and the service user is at the heart of this. Yes you may be the 25th person who the office have called that day to see if you can help when a runs gone down, and they might not seem as pleasant as they did on the first 5 calls, but how would you feel if you were the one worried that you need to ensure that that person has had that call. Fosse have some -
Pros
uniform, training, company handset. flexibility to fit in with other priorities in life

Not as bad as is pictured
Carer (Current Employee) - Mansfield, Nottinghamshire - 26 November 2021
Ignoring discruntled staff, albeit some legitimate claims. It's not as bad as it seems, yes travel time is minimal, yes work is dumped on you. So refuse to do it and ask for more travel time.
Pros
Meet interesting service users
Cons
Long hours, stressful communication.

Just a number
Service users say they feel ignored as do staff who work in the community. Lots of back stabbing and gossip between care and office staff. Expected to work long hours. Travel time and millage never seems to match what i did. No compassion from the office when a service user passes away at all. Supposed to have a 2 hour gap between morning/lunch and tea/bed visits but this never happened. I was lucky if i got an hour. I enjoyed the job and the service users company but like most care companies profit comes before anything else.
Pros
Time with service users
Cons
Long hours and no breaks

More you give the more they want.
The service users are lovely. The staff are brill.. well some. The office staff are ok when they want to be. Certain office staff think they are above everyone else and can say and do what they please. No consideration for your family life. The more you give to the company the more they want. Full of false promises to get staff.

I would be grateful if you would email me directly so we can discuss this, and your comments regarding the office, so we can see what's happened here. collette.compton@fossehealthcare.co.uk.
Not a good company
Carer (Former Employee) - Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire - 21 March 2020
Find another job staff overseeing company shoddy,
No communication, staff kitchen about each other and about management in front of service users.
They have a cant be bothered attitude and dont care about their staff at all, they show a total disregard for their staff, CQC need to investigate fosse at Newark.

Care
Home carer (Former Employee) - Derby, Derbyshire - 12 October 2019
Not the best company to work for..
Hours were not bad . However the professionalism of office staff were dire straights. Rude, changing your rota when it suits them.. not enough drive time. Only paid for the time in the visit yet sometimes you couldn't stay because they would give you too many visits. Office staff did half a job when they did have to come out in the field and never cared at all..

Wonderful company to work for.
Carer (Current Employee) - Grantham, Lincolnshire - 23 September 2019
This is a great company to work for. Understanding and compassionate management. You meet some lovely people to care for it's a privilege. As all new jobs it's takes a while to settle in but once you do. You will really enjoy it. Worth sticking it out and then finding a routine.
