Kitchen Porter in London

OkTerrible pay, pretty sure they're underpaying me too. They were also going to start training me for chef work but kept delaying it. Was easy and relaxed enough as dishwasher where i was though. Nice, friendly people too. Still ultimately felt like a waste of time even just working two days.

If you are not Italian stay awayBe as great a chef as you want you are a beginner for them. All management staff are Italians and they always exclude you.they set you up for peak shift hours and work fewer hours. They talk to each other non-stop in Italian and force you psychologically. You will not find a manager who will understand your problems. As a chef, you only work during peak hours and get tired. But if you are one of them, you will earn much more by working long hours on quiet days without getting tired. If you're not one of them, you're just a number

So unethicalthey make you do trial shifts, without getting paid… on busy days, then they don’t even let you know. They just lie to you and the waitressing staff are so arrogant. Really don’t recommend.
Assistant manager in Annonymous

Avoid if you canBeware! They never tell you that you will be closing restaurant until 3am everyday (they lie it only takes 30 min to close, but it takes hours), that barely anyone speaks English (everyone speaks Italian and if you are British, you feel very excluded); training is nonexistent: people who train you can't explain things (language barrier), no one has any proper knowledge of company procedures; no one follows procedures that they should. Management attitude is condescending and insufferable. They talk badly about staff to other staff. Very unprofessional environment and it gets so busy and they are always short staffed. Had very unpleasant experience.
