The only positive thing there is money You have to be ready to wait a long long time for anything even a new uniform ( mine has holes and I keep burning myself because of them ) You are not allowed to have a water but you theoretically can go on canteen and drink. the problem starts here because your losing about 2-3 minutes by walking there, drink and come back.| After the manager comes complaining about your low target So its IMPOSSIBLE to go drink or to toilet during work and keeping up insane high targets.
fast paced work, management are bullies and they dont care some team leaders are good but even they are abused and belittled by management
disgusting bullying culture if you make a mistake ur abused and not given the benefit of the dought. Management have there favourites and don't care who knows most of the management don't have a clue I had a disaplinary and the person taking notes was the shift manager and he couldn't even spell properly. They try to bully you into doing overtime as its composory but there favourites don't have it enforced it the worst place I've ever worked
it's fast pace working environment, good pay if working hard and it's lot better than my other jobs, over time is very good and is always available. weekend is one and half of time paid, and there is bonus in Xmas. I earned over 28K and was the one earned the most among my friends. breaks are short and unpaid but I don't think any company pays for breaks.
The management is fine for now.If u need to be heart ,they will.If some action needs to ne done -they will do it.The staf -pple are nice .Everybody is working on its own .The job is not easy for everyone .But not unimpossible. If u want come and try.Permenent contract for the good workers and holliday paid as well .
G-TEM is a good company in the local area, the work is fast paced and there are opportunities for overtime on most days, you will need to turn up each day and be accurate with your work. Good opportunities exist for those who are willing to work hard, I enjoyed working with the other staff as part of the production team, shift allowances are also paid for late and night shift. Overall I would recommend this company to others.
Working at G-TEM is not for the faint hearted, I wont lie - its a busy, fast paced environment to work in. There is an expectation to do overtime and this is written into our contracts, but I see that as a good thing as it boosts my salary each week! Providing you turn up to work each day and do a good job the company treat you well, from my experience problems only arise when you create difficulties for yourself by taking lots of time off sick etc .
Personally I have enjoyed my time within this company. Yes its stressful but that comes with the factory high paced environment. pay is good/ shift allowance is great and the room for progression if proved to work well and hard it vast. They have a new factory over the road which ive heard is a clean and productive environment with plenty of readily available overtime associated. last year with all of my overtime I earned over £30k which was great and hopefully I can do the same this year. Also shift patterns are fair and reasonable so would definitely recommend this to others.
worked in weld department, 6:00 - 14:50, 16:20- 01:05, plenty of over time, 20% shift allowance on PM 30% on night shift. working days are Monday - Friday, overtime on weekend is optional. It is hard work, if your looking for an easy life this isn't the place, however there is good opportunity to progress. Many workers have been there 15 years or more so company seems stable. Good Christmas bonus over the past few years.
Seriously do not apply to this Company, it is THE worst place I have ever worked and if there was an option for NO star rating this hole would get it, the Management have no people skills whatsoever and think they can talk to you like a piece of dirt, some of the Team Leaders do nothing but just walk around shouting orders, god help you if you need the toilet as they give you a lecture if you need to go The office staff are rude and have no manners, they look at you like your beneath them because you work on the shop floor. The place is a filth hole, the toilets and locker rooms are disgusting and I mean DISGUSTING. When your probation is up your pay rate is meant to increase but this does not happen as they just drag their heels and if you ask you just get told to ask HR who then tell you to ask your TL who then tells you they will let you know but don’t, this is the reason I left as I was getting fobbed off each time I asked. They don’t like it if you have a brain and speak up for yourself, they work people like dogs in a dirty, dusty dangerous environment and no amount of money would get me to go back there. No point in bringing anything up with HR as they are like a wet weekend and are totally useless but they’re nice as anything when u have your interview ( if you can call it that ) probably because they are so desperate for people as they have a ridiculously high staff turnover and I’m not surprised. PLEASE do not leave a current job to go here as you will regret it.
Positives (there aren't many): * Generally, the people you work with on the production lines are friendly and helpful. * The salary is slightly above the average for this kind of work, but this is ONLY because otherwise they would get no-one to work there. * Plenty of overtime and no issues with getting paid correctly. Negatives: • Truly awful environment. Loud machinery, sparks and dust hitting your face. The sparks can really sting sometimes, be warned. Boiling hot in summer, and when you sweat so much the grime and dust gets into your skin, which is not good. Freezing cold in the winters - no hearing and doors open for unloading all the time. I regularly got chilblains, often so bad I had to use bigger gloves to get my swollen fingers into them. • The team leaders are rude, arrogant and are constantly on your back, they are never happy, always pushing for more and more. If you dare speak back to them you get hauled to HR and given a warning. Management are even worse, they don't even speak to you and look at you as if you are dirt. • Ridiculously short breaks, of which a lot of the time is taken walking from and back to the machines. You have to use part of your break time to do this. • If you clock in one minute late you lose 15 minutes of pay and get a warning. There is no sick pay but you will still get a warning whatever you are off for. One worker got a warning when his wife miscarried and he was with her at the hospital. I kid you not. Compulsory overtime, if you don't do it, expect a warning. • Very low career prospects. You are treated - more...
*Extremely hot in the summer, many people collapse, and you're not allowed to leave your cell to get water. *They use every excuse going to extend your probation *Disgusting toilets * You're desposible and they will make no effort to promote you or advance your training. They dont care if you leave *Team leaders on average are decent people but you can tell they are pressured to get operators to hit targets as they are on your back constantly. *^
Wasting your time if you apply to this job. Management will force you to do over time everyday, bully you, push you to work as fast as possible everyday until you are burnt out. Extend your probation period when you don’t have any days off and do everything they say. If you don’t do exactly what they say, they will sack you. You get treated better in prison!!
I wouldn't reccomend this job even if it would be the last one on earth. Bulling management, unsecure workplace, long hours, bad payments, bad working conditions (it's very cold on winters and extremely hot on summers, a lot of dust, a lot of noise, etc.), all breaks are unpaid, everywhere is very dirty (toilets, locker rooms, cantine, etc.). I'm really trying to find a good thing to say about this horrible company but I can't think of a single positive thing.
Everything about this company
As a whole the company has room for imrovement as do all companys. As long as you work hard and follow rules and procedures then you will do well. Alot of overtime available and in the current climate the business is expanding fast therefore there are may oppotunities for progression.
Overtime, pay and progression.
Hard mabual labour, you work hard for the money
Kept on lower money for as long as possible. So glad I left, you get disaplined for no reason, too many managers and co-ordinator walking around peacocking, and are also unqualified to do the job. No support within the training, working upstairs in the office was dreadful, management were worse. The way they treat operators is disgusting. I just feel sorry for the poor bloke who took my job because he will now be promised the world but will not be even allowed a day off when there is a serious family emergency without having to fight his case. Best thing I done was leave the hole. They don't like you to think for yourself or have ideas. Continuous improvement isnt a thing there. But it's ok because I will always be welcome back, ha.
There are none
Everything even the majority of people
Depends which area and shift You work but overall its good company and friendly place to work if You want long hours and overtimes,You have to deal with pressure of targets as well
Co workers, canteen, salary
Overtimes, targets, repetitive job
