Great ideas, wrong go-to-market strategy
GE has invested billions in Digital enterprise for good reason and has the right vision for the future. However, the route to market is flawed and does not play to the strengths of a very competent, capable and successful sales force which is in place in the existing business units. Instead, they have duplicated the sales teams with IT industry professionals that don't have as clear an understanding of the client needs as the incumbent sales team. Bludgeoning a customer into committing to quarterly targets rather than fostering an incremental transformation of their business is not working.
