Productive and helpful place
Health Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Tower Hill Medical Center - 27 January 2020
Working in a GP surgery is a busy and satisfatory work. You are always on your feet to deliver a good helth care to the patients. It is so great as individuals are different you build a vast experience in your daily routine. Evry day is different. You need to be able to understand different cultures, ages and needs and deal with unexpected emergencies.
The hardest part of the job is deal with staff shortage, it is manageble, but it is tiredness. The most enjoyeble part as a HCA is see the patient health improvement and thesatisfaction with you and the team.
HCA is a job you always work in a team, the team is variable you need to know how to be part of it and not take individual decisions, always ask the team and the manager for sure.

Holostic patient care
Senior Care Assistant band 4 (Current Employee) - Whitehouse - 5 November 2019
Gp practice is currently under strain in N.I, Limited GPS to thriving patient numbers quota currently has an effect on waiting times for routine appointments

Micro managed to the max not treated with any respect
Triage nurse (Former Employee) - Shirebrook, Derbyshire - 18 October 2019
If you are looking for a post where you are picked on on an almost continuous basis and disrespected for terrible wages please do apply
Otherwise look elsewhere!
They state there is a 6 month probation but they just extend it for no reason telling you they are happy with your work but then nit picking about trivial issues
No one working there seems happy everyone is under stress and management dont care
The staff turnover is high for all the above reasons
Pros
None
Cons
Bad management lack of respect poor pay

This role was fast paced, busy and very demanding. The hours could be long which included weekends at times. I had the full responsibility of looking after the GP’s

Varied day to day
Health Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Fenny Compton - 30 August 2019
This job pushed me to always try to do my best. I have always been a people person and always liked helping people this job let me do both of these things. I learnt so much about people and how people deal with certain situations and how to help them through that. If I was unsure I would always ask for back up, we all worked as a team and helped each other when we could.
I was always in work early as I like to make sure I was set up for the day, it was always very busy from the moment you took in your first patient so any paper work I needed for the morning I would do before I started.

Stressful, overworked and underpaid
Receptionist/Administrator for GP surgery. (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 26 March 2019
As the one and only receptionist for a busy GP surgery I was expected to simultaneously check in patients arriving for appointments, deal with all face to face and telephone queries, process repeat prescription requests, answer the (constantly ringing) phone, book appointments for GPs and nurses, rearrange those appointments when the doctor or nurse cancelled their shift, call patients to tell them their appointment has changed and rearrange it to their satisfaction despite there not actually being any free appointments, call to collect blood forms, deal with post, emails, faxes, tasks set for me for the day, mop up any additional tasks dropped on me by the GP or nurse as they head off home and not leave the building until the GP has finished, however late that might be, and then lock up and go home with my head pounding and nerves in tatters.
The patience, resilience and breadth of knowledge required is astonishing and this is for min wage of £8 an hour,
Are you kidding NHS?
