Supportive and progressive
Site Manager (Former Employee) - Scotland - 25 April 2022
I always found GT to be a good company to work for and wouldn’t hesitate in returning if the opportunity arose. They have a great pipeline of future work and have many vacancies available at the current time.
Pros
Lots of training opportunities
Cons
Not to loyal to hardworking and loyal staff when it comes to redundancy times.

Professional company to work for
Trainee Quantity Surveyor (Former Employee) - Bristol - 23 February 2022
It's a professional company to work for who are happy to invest in you through training courses etc. It is top heavy, for example there's too many people up top being paid double what the regular workers earn. Their job tends to consist of keeping up a reputation for themselves and being hard on the senior managers on the bottom half of the hierarchy. Could be more streamlined, however I would recommend.
Pros
Training courses, good for networking throughout the company and beyond, professional
Cons
Top heavy hierarchy, bottom half of workers are paid less, do 99% of the actual work and are not exempt from redundancies, trainees are taken advantage of and are not paid a regular salary for a long as possible.

Total lack of integrity
Manager (Former Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 14 February 2022
Very poor culture, too focussed on glory/vanity projects rather than fixing deep-running problems within the business. Deliberate misreporting is rife, and sanctioned by management. Paperwork and red tape is beyond a joke.
Pros
Good expenses policy and company car list
Cons
Toxic work atmosphere, lack of integrity

Disappointingly weak management
Senior Commissioning Engineer (Former Employee) - Warrington - 2 December 2020
Full of great promises at Interview, failed to deliver on all counts, Directors detached from reality, management team too weak to support staff, Training regime was very poor, Bonus scheme very poor, 4 years out of 4 I received 1% or less after the promise of a 15% bonus annually. This would indicate to me, that the company lied, or the performance was so poor that it could not afford any bonuses. Given the opportunity to help its staff during the recent pandemic, they chose to ignore the Furlough scheme, and made a number of key personnel redundant in stead. I definitely would not recommend this company to any prospective employee.
Pros
Very Friendly
Cons
Would stab you in the back as quick as looking at you

Jobs at Galliford Try
Very fast moving company
Payroll Administrator (Former Employee) - Hinckley, Leicestershire - 11 October 2020
I loved my job at GallifordTry even though at times it was very stressful but that was part of the enjoyment. The relations I gained over the 12 years were my biggest achievement. I found my management had their favourites which did play on my mind on a daily basis. My daily routine of applying employees hours to enable them to be paid correctly was not just about inputting numbers it was actually me taking care and pride in my job to make sure it was accurate. The hardest part of my job was I made an error that made an impact on employees livelihoods.
Pros
Bonus and appreciate awards

Salary in tiers instead of being at the discretion of a manager, based upon your experience, and what you can do

Working for GT is like any other large companies with all the usual problems and issues. On most day it is a nice place to work but there are days when you wish you had won the lottery.

A good company to work for.
Senior Manager (Former Employee) - Plymouth. Millbay. - 19 February 2020
A very friendly and relaxed working atmosphere. An open door policy at all levels. The senior management always took time to address any issues and were not afraid to be told if they were wrong or there was a better and safer way to address an issue or problem.
