CNC MACHINE OPERATOR in Derby, Derbyshire

Good company to work with.
In my 4 years there, I found friendly and approachable team leaders/managers, who treat you like adults (not watching you constantly to make sure your doing your job). I also found the co-workers to be friendly and knowledgeable, and willing to help if you need it. There was alot of different shifts available with a good shift rates, before the covid19 hit the industry. Collagee courses are available. A large canteen, and a cob Van that comes at break time.

GARDNER AEROSPACE.Unstable , work environment which causes stress and uncertainty within its workforce. Unseasoned management team who have worked too few winters to know when it’s getting cold and demand all the respect of a position they have not gained through work or Experience . They rule through punishment tactics and there pally-cliques are exempt from all scrutiny that the average worker is subject to and will go out there way to bypass pay structure and get there mates to the top of the ladder first. Pay grades depend entirely on who you know , which manager you drink with down the pub on a Friday night and whether your face fits and do not at all reflect the skills structure that is barely in place at all. Pay grades need to reflect skill level and should be awarded when earned. Training or the lack thereof is woeful at best and there is not a single coordinator or employee tasked with overseeing training in the shoddy training programme. Which they brag a big game about but only sees those apprentices who know or blow someone in management succeed. Willing operators ask time and time again for the most basic of training and never see these requests met or even considered. If Gardner did Board games titles would include :Mates and Ladders ,Haven’t-A-cluedo and Notrunpropoly.

Poor company very stressful as they always had un realistic targets.
Terrible management, three managers walked off site in 6 years, one was in court for constructive dismissal numerous time, save yourself the bother.
Welder/Fabricator in Derby, Derbyshire

Frustrating
I've worked as a welder fabricator in the aerospace industry for nearly 30 years.I worked at Gardners for a short time but couldn't stand it, it's a complete joke!I've never known such a disorganized place, the area I worked in was a complete shambles. Holding parts in place with masking tape on wood and plastic jigs which of course melt onto the parts and disturb the welding process. No body wanted to know or wanted to improve the situation. No tooling, welding fixtures, complete joke.Really cliquey place.
