Management and higher ups don’t really see what it’s like at the bottom do they...no real reward for working in this kind of company and your efforts count for nothing. It changes all the time and I can’t say it’s for the better unfortunately. Nothing good or special here. It’s a job with a decent salary at the bottom and good hours. That’s it.
Poor communication. Non helpful staff. No acknowledgement for your consistent efforts
This place is a joke you don't get full training as the managers don't even know the job them self. Dont get full uniform no safety shoes given rips shirt managers don't have time for you and there food makes you sick and when I raise this issue they got funny with me and started saying you stated this allegation about are good . What about the unfair treatment in the workplace
There so no free lunch
I began working for Gather & Gather at the new Salford Quays building as a kitchen assistant. Currently (May 2019), Gather & Gather are contracted to work within the BUPA building offering food, drinks and other refreshment services. Gather & Gather are separate to BUPA and so I would like to make it known my review is primarily based on my experiences with Gather & Gather working within the BUPA building, and not specifically working with BUPA in the same building. I shared the building with BUPA office staff but I was not employed by BUPA. From the outside the building looks modern, stylish and fits right in with the affluent fashionable neighbourhood with the docks not so far away, ITV and BBC studios a short walk down the road and many expensive high end apartment complexes dotting the skyline. When you walk in it's quite breathtaking how stylish, open plan and welcoming the whole environment seems to be. This appears to be a big selling point for Gather & Gather who schmooze their new employees with the looks and feel of their prospectively new working environment. The building as it's own modern open plan cafe, and a stylish coffee shop serving barista coffee, snacks and other assorted foods and drinks, and this is where Gather & Gather are based. It's also where I spent 2 months working, and where my review will now begin from. To begin with everything seemed great. The manager sold me an attractively pitched employment prospect with great benefits and great opportunities. I got to work thinking this could perhaps be somewhere I could really work towards doing - more...
Free food at lunch, free coffee, access to the BUPA owned gym, some nice customers occasionally, nice building
Bullying, victimization, peer pressure, manipulation, abusive staff, ineffective management, egocentric, lack of teamwork, anger management issues with most if not all staff members, depressing work environment
Was constantly threatened with my job and bullied by my manager. Verbally threatened by another member of staff (said he would smash my face in) and the operations manager had no sympathy and did not care. Was told to stop talking to customers so much (FOH management role). No coaching given to me until we were short staffed. Nothing in place to protect staff when money went missing (£1300 vanished) and no one to hold accountable. Looking back it feels like constructive dismissal as my manager constantly told me I was being paid more than I should because that was the salary I negotiated. My replacement was paid considerably less and not on a salary. Got weekends off though so that was nice.
Management, poor paperwork keeping, terrible financial management
over seeing, busy Starbucks coffee bars, as well as very extensive events and hospitality over 5 building, having loads off training, responsibuilty managing a team of 50 mobilization off units
training, and free lunches
Our typical day is a fun, so tiring as satisfactory 8 hours shift. I learnt about Health&Safety rules and a full, free training is been provided to all of us since the first moment, from the line manager, who is fantastically ready to answer and help us in any situation.
Very early shift in the morning
Having worked for Gather & Gather now for a few months I have been the happiest in my job for a long time, great benefits and pay structure and the home/work life balance is the best I have had in 10years within hospitality. They have a vision of where to take contract catering and those with the passion and drive are along for the ride leave the 'old contract caterer complaining in the distance. Couldn't recommend more.
Staff meals, high street discounts, training and development, career progression
Worked for them for two n half years constant overtime even though I have small child am disrespected when I say can't/won't do it Management are all spineless liars I think this is a qualification they must have in order to gain management role. Never no praise but always quick to jump on your shoulders if they think something wrong No support for employees as someone else has said it's who you know......one rule for you another for other staff
Poor management no employee support
