Chef de Partie in Auchterarder, Perth and Kinross
on 4 July 2022
Negativity and too difficult to get consetrasion.
If you have any health issues, such as invisible disability is not the right place to work. Because do not have any proper training earlier, starting working and not much support for professional development at all. Extremely stressful to work, and never is good enough to the head chef and the executive chef too.
Room Attendant in Auchterarder, Perth and Kinross

There's the good and there's the bad
The staff within the department are fantastic, always helpful and kind, a great team to have been apart of! Supervisors are all nice and approachable but very inconsistent - some offer help and tweak minor issues while others pull you back for the smallest of mistakes and don't offer any help. There is a lot of skills and knowledge to be learned - everyday is different. Uniform is provided and is smart but is quite uncomfortable and hot especially during the summer. The hotel itself is very attractive with some lovely views and decor throughout. Some of the housekeeping management were good - approachable and friendly, and really try to create a nice atmosphere to work in. Others were the opposite and appear to be on a power trip. No matter how hard you worked and effort put in, they would be negative, tear you down with every little minor fault and would only praise when suit (to make themselves look good) as well as favouritism shown among some members of staff became apparent. Raising issues with certain managers don't get resolved and only receive defensive, dismissive answers back, no solutions, a slap in the face for the ones who want to make change for the better. However, I will give the management team their due as they are inclusive and offer to work around any other commitments you have out of work such as working certain days/hours.If you work well and fast paced you get A LOT of work compared to other colleagues and sometimes is incredibly overwhelming and stressful. If your workload is more than contracted hours you can get overtime pay - even if you finish on time which was nice but doesn't always happen. Training is thorough and there is always someone on hand to help with any queries as well as regular refresher training to enhance your skills and work towards progression to higher positions. Quite often, breaks would be missed due to the demands expected and nothing would be done to ensure you got a rest and wouldn't get paid for missing breaks, or take a break and not receive the adequate overtime if you finish late. Pay isn't great given the workload and standards required and often doesn't reflect on the payslip. Time's are challenging and it's not like they're short of money to pay staff are more suitable wage. Like any job, there's the good and there's the bad but the bad outweighs the good at Gleneagles.
Support in Offices

Not worth the stress
The pay isn't good enough for the work. The management expect flexibility but only when it suits them. Due to the nature of the role I had to choose when to start and finish and would regularly upset one team or another due to the fact my job was split between several priorities, requiring me to be there during working hours and there for the social hours. Hence the one way flexibility. I know of staff that worked 7 days a week almost to clear the huge workload placed upon them.I was regularly left alone within days of starting with no positive direction and the training needed for this position was non-existent. I was also forced to converse with customers on requests that couldn't possibly be achieved without any real backing of a team or management. The conditions are poor, with broken stuff crammed into any spare space people could find. The equipment is old, damaged or broken. This place is demoralising and the only thing I am glad about is that I didn't stay there long!

Hard work but very enjoyable
Worked in the dormy over the summer. Management is excellent and very friendly. Very enjoyable experience with good pay and excellent benefits (especially if you play golf).

It’s a great job if your will to work!!
It’s been a blast working for the housekeeping squad on and off for over 2 years…. This job was a great job for me it’s just the travel… the benefits you can receive are amazing….. it’s a fast pace job but the pay is fab… sad to go but… to anyone wanting to work for high class then this is it…. Like every job u need to take the good and the bad? It’s not for the faint hearted and you need to remember it’s all about the team work
