Negativity and too difficult to get consetrasion.
Chef de Partie (Former Employee) - Auchterarder, Perth and Kinross - 4 July 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIf you have any health issues, such as invisible disability is not the right place to work. Because do not have any proper training earlier, starting working and not much support for professional development at all. Extremely stressful to work, and never is good enough to the head chef and the executive chef too.
Pros
Not free lunch, demanding place to work for, considering what you get pay for .
Cons
Long hours and no enough time to get a proper lunch and rest before starting all over.

Not worth the stress
Support (Former Employee) - Offices - 18 May 2022
The pay isn't good enough for the work. The management expect flexibility but only when it suits them. Due to the nature of the role I had to choose when to start and finish and would regularly upset one team or another due to the fact my job was split between several priorities, requiring me to be there during working hours and there for the social hours. Hence the one way flexibility. I know of staff that worked 7 days a week almost to clear the huge workload placed upon them. I was regularly left alone within days of starting with no positive direction and the training needed for this position was non-existent. I was also forced to converse with customers on requests that couldn't possibly be achieved without any real backing of a team or management. The conditions are poor, with broken stuff crammed into any spare space people could find. The equipment is old, damaged or broken. This place is demoralising and the only thing I am glad about is that I didn't stay there long!

It’s a great job if your will to work!!
Accommodation Assistant (Former Employee) - Auchterarder, Perth and Kinross - 26 March 2022
It’s been a blast working for the housekeeping squad on and off for over 2 years…. This job was a great job for me it’s just the travel… the benefits you can receive are amazing….. it’s a fast pace job but the pay is fab… sad to go but… to anyone wanting to work for high class then this is it…. Like every job u need to take the good and the bad? It’s not for the faint hearted and you need to remember it’s all about the team work

Stressful
Room Attendant (Former Employee) - Auchterarder, Perth and Kinross - 25 July 2021
Work in the accommodation department is very stressful, the requirements to deliver a high standard, no organization of work, no respect for the employee, changing the schedule twice a week without consultation. People at work are very nice and friendly but managers treat people differently. If you work very well, you get more rooms and more work. The company don't really care about your mental health. I am surprised that in a 5-star hotel with a history, there are situations where people should be dismissed disciplinary and she still works because her friend is a person who works in a high position. As you can see, acquaintances help and the standard and respect are not important anymore.
Cons
long hours, free overtime

International 5 star resort with multiple options for aspiring Hospitality talents
Guest Relations Manager (Current Employee) - Auchterarder, Perth and Kinross - 26 May 2020
Within Front Office the roles are very varied and the team is well balanced with a lot of young international team members in addition to a core team of experienced team members and managers. A very structured induction plus courses and cross training are in place. The variety of tasks and guest interactions are numerous and diverse given the elevated status , leisure and dining offer in the Resort Hotel. Staff accommodation, Social Club, Golf Club membership are well established and Workplace by FB is a very up to the minute communication tool. As a people's person, one must revel in guest demands and wishes and always seek to go the extra mile in a busy environment. Being part of new guests and regular guests stay , their resort journey and experiences at the resort gives a very special kind of job satisfaction . Commitment to the resort is given back by commitment to one's own journey through the different departments with options to join different industry bodies and associations as well as being able to compete in Hospitality related events. Great attributes are a very " easy- to- fix and go- to - attitude " and approach which works well in a very non-hierarchical set up with regards to the Executive Team of the resort.

Great place to grow as a chef
Chef de Partie (Current Employee) - Auchterarder, Perth and Kinross - 21 May 2020
Gleneagles is a great place to work with talented chefs from around the world and has a variety of kitchens to work in from cafés to rosette standard. The company are always happy to help you further your education and gain useful qualifications and experience. In some kitchens you do work long, hard hours, but that's part of the industry everywhere and Gleneagles is one of the few places that pay you for every hour you work overtime.

Nice place to work.
Chef de Rang (Former Employee) - Auchterarder, Perth and Kinross - 12 February 2020
The place was nice to work. One of the luxuries place to work. There are so many benefits to the staff.
I worked for 2 months and I had to leave because it is too far for me to travel from camelon, it took me 40 minutes to drive.

Great place for yes men/women
Assistant foh manager (Current Employee) - Auchterarder - 16 January 2020
They tell you great things at your induction but that's the last you here about them so take notes,
Management rarely acknowledge if you do a good job but are on your back right away if you ever put a foot wrong, If you have your own opinion your pretty much an outcast as all the top bosses want are people who are happy to keep to the script
Pros
none as of 2019
Cons
You always feel as if your being watched

Great to work at for small periods of time
1st Commis Chef (Former Employee) - Auchterarder, Perth and Kinross - 19 November 2019
I absolutely loved my time at gleneagles however I don’t think this is a place people can spend long periods of time as anyone who had been there more than 2 years seemed to be broken and complaining about the place the whole time

Stressful and poor management
Waitress (Former Employee) - Scotland - 15 November 2019
Management is poor and you can’t exceed at your job because of it, unfortunately. A lot of gossip back of house and can make you feel uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend a friend.

In Gleneagles we have different departments that engage in different competitions throughout the year which are fun and exciting to engage in.
Housekeeping/ Self-checker (Former Employee) - Auchterarder, Perth and Kinross - 29 July 2019
Each morning you have a meeting with the team to discuss the day. You are then assigned rooms, you set up a trolley and begin your day. Its a good team work in as you all help each other to meet the same goal. The staff at Gleneagles are great to work with and is the best part of the job, meeting new people. Since beginning my work at the hotel I have become more confident as a person. Its fast paced environment but overall good experience working there.

Good place to start in Hospitality
House Porter (Former Employee) - Auchterarder, Perth and Kinross - 21 April 2019
As it is a big hotel, most of the days is busy but i have learned a lot working in Gleneagles, the hardest part of the job is that pretty much every day is stressful, the most enjoyable part of the job is that we get to meet new people everyday and that helps on our communications skills
Pros
Gives you a lot of experience in the industry
Cons
We need to pay for our lunchs
