Junior Student Engagement Officer in Manchester
Avoid at all costs
Worked here for most of 2020. First off, HR got confused what role they offered me. It wasn't until I started I realised my role was different to what they told me. Secondly, no training provided, mainly shadowing, so hard to pick up some things at first but got on my feet. Communicating with students was fine. However management is a joke at this place. No one works collaboratively. You find out last minute things need to change when you should be giving students notice. Disgraceful attitude towards the student environment, bothered about how many they can push through the course to get their money from student loans rather than if they are physically capable of doing the course. Often got phonecalls out of work hours to get some data done before 10pm at night, which you aren't paid for in overtime can I add. Anytime I finished late, or worked through lunch breaks, was never paid for the extra time. Then to top it all off, 2 days before my probation ended they sent me an email saying my role no longer exists and I've been made redundant. No warning whatsoever! They have no decency here. After doing all this extra work, their gratitude is booting me off! This in combination with family issues I had personally which they were aware of. Don't care at all. No human decency!
Programme Manager in London, Greater London
I worked for the Programme Management Team and I must say it was by far the best experience I ever experienced in my entire life. First of all my line manager was very patient, friendly and caring. The Director was approachable and there was an open door policy so see Senior Management. A good place to work as the senior management was very helping, colleagues were friendly and helpful when you first get there. The work was sometimes hard, but they treat their employees with fairness.GBS has an amazing atmosphere everyone seems calm and there aren't too many egos there. It is a very fast-paced place with a lot of communication. I enjoyed my time there, learned a lot and would love to work again in future
