Reviews about Pay & benefits for Bus Driver at Go-Ahead Group
just a job, not a career
bus operator (Former Employee) - london - 4 October 2019
Long stressful days, no job security and you get the statutory basics. No sick pay. pay is not great. Working overtime is not worth the while as you get the standard rates. A lot of pay restrictions.

Unsociable hours expected.
Bus Driver (Former Employee) - Totton, Hampshire - 2 December 2017
Long hours, too many weekends. But enjoyable on the job. Interaction with passengers. Bus driving needs a lot of concentration, which can be very tiring after 10 or 12 hour shifts.
Pros
Free bus travel
Cons
Responsibility for passengers after long duties worked.

Bus Driver (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 25 July 2017
A typical day would be quite easy going, not much stress except for dealing with controllers. Ive learned the important's of being calm and patient and how important it is to be on schedule, specifically when the job is based on time and your dealing with a large number of people. In my experience management do not give as much as they take which will rub any employee the wrong way and often. Do not stick to the word or give enough time to address a personal situation, i.e booking holiday (which is only 20 days not 28) or request for a specific shift due to circumstance. As a new driver you are not entitled to sick pay in your first two years. The hardest part of the job is adjusting to the constant change of shifts and not having a company canteen which forces most to eat junk food. The best thing about the job is you get paid weekly which allows you to manage bills and other expenses, and you can plan ahead as far as finance is concerned.
Pros
Weekly pay
Cons
Shitfs, Canteen, No fixed hours, Hours dont add up to pay, Everybody is on a different contract where by some get paid more then others, takes to long to reach to pay, Rubbsih holiday a month vacation is 20 days. No sick pay for the first two years.
