Great Learning, top tech, work imbalance

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Performance, performance, performance.... Work is imbalanced between better performers and weaker ones.. although this sometimes does not reflect in the pay/bonus. Great place to learn though and people are helpful as long as your not a threat ;)

Best Workaholic Culture

I enjoyed my time with GS. It will always stay near to my heart. The work, the people, the management is simply amazing. If you want to be a better person in a short span, GS is "the company"

The first time in a while that you can get the best out there for a good deal is in a good condition for you and you don’t need a new car and I think it’s worth the and it’s

Fun, productive and inviting

While i have only been here for a short time i have come to realise that this is what a work place should be, everyone is willing to help, extremely inviting and a great training plan.

Good start but not for long term

Good place to start from uni. Managers sometime are not technically good, make it hard to drive strategy. Sometimes requires longer working hours. Benefit is good.

Very American business style

Stressful and pushy. The company used to support hybrid working and allows employees to work from home for 3 days. Now it has moved to 4 since end Feb. Heard rto fully is coming to our way.

Enjoyable

Worked here briefly, didn't stay long enough to really get a full idea of the company structure but staff were knowledgeable and helpful from my limited experience.

Corporate feel

Some good people, depending on what team you’re working with. Expected to work long hours and work is as interesting as you make it. Overall good place to start your career

Great experience but cut throat

Excellent benefits and exposure. However it depends on who your manager is on the level of support you get. More individually focused and very competitive culture.

Ok place to work

Good compensation, very competitive environment. Similar to other American banks. Cons Too much outsourcing, a bit political especially across regions. High turnover

Long hours

Hours can be extremely long. Help is not always given and upper management is not very concerned about work-life balance.Overall, would not recommend spending more than 2 years at Goldman

Dreadful management and leadership

I’m a lateral hire. So I don’t drink the kool aid. The worst management I’ve experienced in my career - they strip you of you engagement, motivation, enthusiasm. Shocking how employees are treated and demotivated. The asset management (public) is a sinking ship with huge turnover (they don’t seem to care). Avoid if you can. Oh and pay is pretty poor - the CIOS get a bonus envelope that literally doesn’t cover staffing numbers and performance.

Best training very good pay opportunity for promotion no work /life ballance

They are the best at what they do they want the best and you have to be the best work comes first with their pay. The problem is you will have an unbalanced life. It's all about work and reputation. This is not a bad thing but you never feel like you are off the clock.Your experience will depend on the people around you everybody is high performing so working harder and smarter Is a given. The question is are you ready to sacrifice tour personal time and by how much. No question they are the best at what they do and they will pay you more and you will.work much more

Great place to start your career

Fast paced but you will be working with the smartest people in the industry. I started my career there and have learnt many soft and hard skills that have helped me in my career thus far.

Pros

Great pay

Cons

Long hours

Excellent work ethics

Fantastic place to work, one of my favourites.Great management and team member’s in all departments. It’s the most faced place environment that anyone could ever experience but it keeps you on your toes. You need to thrive on stress otherwise the job is not for you.

Pros

Staff subsidies food canteen and gym onsite

Cons

Short breaks

Stressful and inufriating, but a nice pension plan (if you make it to 65)

Worked on the Marcus platform at Goldman Sachs. Micromanagement was dominant in my time there. I ended up feeling very unhappy with my life and I believe this was due to a lack of autonomy and being criticised for things such as taking toilet breaks. After leaving I had no job but felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Now life is far more enjoyable again and I feel like I have my happiness/personality back. Avoid like the plague, even if the name / salary package is tempting.

Pros

12% Pension

Cons

Micromanagement + suppresive culture

Its a highly professional company filled with great people and a wonderful work culture

My brief time spent working in the HCM division at GS was my most amazing work experience that is because I worked in a company with a culturally diverse workforce that has industry best practice. Unfortunately, I spent only 7 weeks at GS because I was on a student visa which was to expire soon.

Pros

Industry best practice

Cons

None

Contract

I was working with GS as a contractor Overall the experience was great, they have called me back several times as they needed more help hence the time overlaps with my other jobs. I would recommend IT Engineer or Customer Engineer to work there.

Productive and fun workplace

A typical day at work is fun, productive and very challenging. I learned professionalism about my profession. The management is very fantastic and help me in developing in my career. The most enjoyable part of the job is the working relationship with colleagues and the management.
