Reviews about Pay & benefits for Kitchen Porter at Gourmet Burger Kitchen
Good for the start, exhausting in long term
Kitchen Porter (Former Employee) - O2 Arena, Greenwich, London - 5 September 2019
The hygiene of this place was exceptional - everything was cleaned daily, and none of the ingredients was served past its use-by date. The staff meals could be bought for points that we earned each working hour, and filled our stomachs for long hours. On the minus side, the wage was quite low, and working hours so long to only leave time for travel (often long because of crowded location) and sleep.

happy, exciting and consistent
Kitchen Porter/ Commis Chef (Former Employee) - Cardiff, WLS - 2 February 2015
the reason I say exciting because every so often we used to have an area manager come to our restaurants give us reviews and tell us how we can improve. I used to be in work for 9:00am to start food preparation around the back of the restaurant, as a commie chef my jobs would be everything other than the grill. I would prep from 9am to around 4-5pm and then join the grill chef around the front to deal with service. my duties were to use the fryers, keep everything around us clean, replenish stock, prep food, construct burgers, send side orders out so I know about handling pressure and sending orders out on time and setting up for the next set of orders. I learned how to prepare vegetables of specific variety to go with or in recipes. I also learned how to perform independent tasks without help and just common sense. I was regularly praised for achieving high standards of service and I was becoming faster than the grill chef. the best time of the day was lunch time because the company allow you staff points for meals so every lunch you could experience for free what the establishment was about.
Pros
free lunches, down cardiff bay (beautiful scenary), great manager, outgoing and happy as i am colleagues
Cons
head chef prioritised colleague girlfriend, worked with my best friend, far away from my house as i dont have a car
