HP is my second home, we are a big family. I've been here for 4 years and dont see myself going anywhere else. Management are approachable, lots of support from senior staff. Free meals, fun days out with the people we support and our colleagues. Some days can be challenging but the reward is worth it! The grass is greener here!

Enjoyable, hard work and fun
Senior Support Worker (Current Employee) - Helston, Cornwall - 15 November 2023
A typical day at HP can be fun, hard work and challenging but rewarding at the same time, I enjoy my shifts here and with my colleagues. Everyone is happy and willing to show you the ropes and explain information. The management are really helpful and always willing to go the extra mile, to support staff as well as the people we support, they are very approachable. The most enjoyable part of my job is seeing the people we support achieve their goals.
Pros
Kindness and support

Amazing workplace
Relief Support Worker (Current Employee) - Portreath, Cornwall - 9 November 2023
Management and all the teams are helpful and support you as much as they can. Flexible hours so I can balance a college and work life ratio. Hardest part of the job can be doing long hours but this is always optional. Most enjoyable part is taking the individuals out to new places and seeing them enjoy themselves
Pros
flexible hours
Cons
Can have long hours

A superb company to work for
Registered Manager (Current Employee) - Huthnance - 8 November 2023
Greenlight is by far the best company I have worked for in my career history. Each day is different and brings with it a variety of challenges, rewards and experiences, there is always something to put a smile on your face. There is a culture of support for all, what makes this place so special is the people you work with, having the relationships with your colleagues makes every day a good day, this is what makes Greenlight such a special place to work.
Pros
An exceptional team

Not as promised .
Support Worker/Carer (Former Employee) - Penzance - 2 November 2023
I was really looking forward to working in this company. Sadly it didn't turn out as promised . The ethos is they care for staff , some do but many don't. Some staff are really hard to get on with . Some managers haven't even bothered to introduce themselves whilst working in the same small building. Some staff sadly are just out to cause trouble and I found this toxic . The staff view everyone with suspicious intent and I found that sad . I've worked in many care sectors but I found this one the most toxic . I'd never return. Very high turnover of staff sadly its because no one cares if you leave .
Pros
Some nice staff
Cons
No breaks

Absolutely amazing company to work for
Deputy Manager (Current Employee) - Cornwall - 8 September 2023
A company that not only cares for the people we support but the staff. The company focuses a lot of achieving positive outcomes for the people we support. The care is second to none and everything is top quality when it comes To the homes. The work culture is beyond amazing, you are welcomed from the moment you walk in on your interview to the induction training. The induction training is very detailed and in-depth. Support given at every stage. The company shines in kindness and the ethos of care shines through.
Pros
Good wage, over time, good work atmosphere

Good workplace
CSW (Current Employee) - Newquay, Cornwall - 31 August 2023
GL in my experience has been one of the better care companies I've worked for. Support from management is overall quite good, staffing levels usually good. Agency is used a fair bit too but thats just a reflection of working in care at the moment.

Toxic positivity
Support Worker (Former Employee) - Cornwall - 6 August 2023
Greenlight try their best to seem positive but the reality is that it’s very cliquey especially at head office and they use the fake positivity as a way to cover up the same drawbacks that every other company doing a similar style of care has and more. At least most companies own up to their mistakes and try and be better instead of covering it up. The training will make you think it’s so different from everywhere else and perfect but it’s not. They have very high turnover from what I saw and this is probably because once you get over the honeymoon period and start seeing them for what they truly are you quickly are effected by the underlying bullying long hours and lack of support that isn’t worth it for the pay that’s below what other companies in the area will pay for the same role. They try and justify the pay by talking in circles around you when you question it but other companies do pay more. You’ll be called negative and pulled up by management for speaking up about things that are wrong no matter how hard you try to be the opposite even when you’re just worried about the way a customer is being cared for. There’s a few good people in some of the homes and some homes are better than others from what I hear. The customers are great and I liked working with them a lot. I went into greenlight really liking what I do but now have quit and changed paths because it took the joy out of it for me feeling so shunned and stressed every day. I wouldn’t go back.
Pros
Free food on shift. The customers. Some of the team.
Cons
Head office are out of touch with the houses. Long hours. Bad pay.

Great company for progression
Registered Manager (Current Employee) - Camborne, Cornwall - 21 May 2023
I joined the company over 2 years ago as a support worker looking to progress in my career from another company. I joined and progressed quickly with the right support and guidance from my own management. As someone who’s career goals felt miles away 3 years ago to reach all of my goals within the first year and a half was incredible to me, my self esteem and my drive for providing excellent care. They really make you feel worth more than just a job.

great place to work
Senior Support Worker (Current Employee) - Newquay, Cornwall - 18 May 2023
I have worked for Green Light for 4 years, I had no prior experience working in care. Green Light provide all the training and support you need from the excellent management team and the knowledgeable behaviour analysts. The training really helped me understand my role and about Autism and other learning disabilities. No day is the same in this job and I learn new things every day. We support people to take part in different activities every day, we promote independence and for people to live a life they are proud of. Work/life balance is very important to me, this job is very flexible which means I rarely have to miss out on events in my personal life. If you are looking for a job that really makes a difference to peoples lives, this is the job for you.
Pros
Free food on shift. Activities paid for. Extra pay at weekends. Good rate of pay for sleep in's.

Caring workplace with inspiring vision
Support Worker (Current Employee) - Newquay, Cornwall - 12 May 2023
I joined greenlight around 3 months ago with no past working in this sector before, I can happily say I'm so glad I made the choice to do something different, I have learned so much already and will continue to do so everyday. I love the place I work and the rewarding feeling this job gives, it's so rewarding to see the people we support develop new skills and qualities, and I feel privileged to be a part of their lives. The staff are all lovely and a joy to work with and I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with a company with such an inspiring vision and care

Love it
Waking Night Support Worker (Current Employee) - Goonhavern, Cornwall - 11 May 2023
This is the best, most rewarding job I’ve ever had, I started at Greenlight when I was over 50 years of age, so don’t think you are to old for this company, I work with a great team, and it’s not like going to work to be honest, building relationships with those we care for is an amazing feeling, days out, meals at work eating and cooking with those we care for all help build the relationship, training is given and if you are ever worried help and support is there, I wish I’d joined Greenlight years ago
Pros
Meals at work
Cons
Can be long hours

At the work place
Senior Support Worker (Current Employee) - Newquay, Cornwall - 11 May 2023
A usually day at the work place would typical include an activity, such as exploring Cornwall with adventurous walks, swimming, trips to the cinema, aquarium and the zoo. During the 2 years of being employed by GL, I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience with the people we support and their needs. I have always found the management at GL very approachable, understanding and helpful. The Culture at GL is excellent, with long last team members making feel welcomed to the team and leading by example. I feel that the hardest part of the job is experiencing the challenging behaviour shown by the people we support however with a strong and experienced team, you are always supported. The most enjoyable part of the job is empowering the people we support.
Pros
Free food throughout the day. Empowering the people we support. Exploring Cornwall. Staff discount
Cons
Potential long hours

Been working here for a couple of years now and have felt supported within my role and if desired, its easy to go up within the company. First care work and got me into the industry well. Training is helpful although some of the job is not always what it seems. But all around great job and company to work for. Help is there whenever you need

Productive, fun and rewarding job
Deputy Manager (Current Employee) - Perranporth, Cornwall - 14 April 2023
In my three years working at Green Light I have progressed from support worker to a deputy manager, I feel I am fully supported when needing guidance, there's always someone who you can ask for help. Most days are filled with taking the people we support out into the community, which is very rewarding. At times the hours can be long but the team I work in always helps to get through it. Good company to work for.
Pros
Meals on shift, the varied amount of over time.
Cons
None
