Its productive when the head chef its good.Its not often.Not in uff peaple in kitchen and the paymant its very loo.All ways minimal.I haved plejar to work with very good meniger,bad dont have good hed chef.

Stressful and unrewarding

Too much expectation with little reward or recognition. Long hours with no paid overtime if you are on salary. High staff turnover and short staffed a lot of the time.

Bad place to work

You should only work here if it’s a last choice, had multiple friends work for them. They will take the pish out of ya! The people you end up working with are either amazing or terrible no in between. Terrible work culture and a lot of bullying to staff from other staff and even lower management. Unprofessional workplace and you’ll be demonised if you don’t come in on your days off, expected to give your entire life for a company that’s paying you bare minimum. Better off in a warehouse lads n lasses at least you get paid ok!

Its fun and flexible to work as a bartender but Greene King pay is terrible and we are often understaffed

The pay at Greene King is awful they don't pay you for breaks, they don't give pubs enough hours and job security is not great. You have to do lots of pretty pointless online training modules because really people learn best on the job. I enjoy my job speaking to customers, not having to work in an office, pouring drinks and taking care of the place. Management are quite nice but often overworked and stressed by area managers forcing them to make their already overworked staff work harder so they can get bonuses from our minimum wage labour and auditors analyzing wastage and stock to punitive levels in an industry where some wastage is inevitable because food and drinks go off, inexperienced staff can make mistakes and human error cannot be eradicated or miscommunication can happen. The team I work with are great we have some very good chefs and bartenders that are intelligent, friendly and interesting. In summary, I like the pub I work at, the people I work with and the job role but Greene King is a profit before people company where job progression is limited, the pubs are micromanaged by people that are rarely there, employees are not compensated for the labour very well but the 33% discount is great

Working there you feel like having a cigarette in your mouth while you work. And you wish to finish but it was probably a bit busy so you get to stay!

Terrible company that doesn't care about it's staff and only money

You wanna know the most common thing you'll here working for Greene King? We don't have the wage budget for an extra member of staff even though there's only 3 members of FoH staff and 200 covers due to come in, it cares about the 200 people coming in to spend money but they don't actually care about the experience the customers will get nor do they care about their overworked staffed, so long as they can make as much mony as possible while not spending money on wages they're happy and they'll pat you on the back for it as if we should be proud of over working ourselves for them. Working Front or Back of house you will be worked into the ground and simply replaced when you get fed up of getting walked over and this isn't even just floor management, MOST floor management are great but the ones above, that don't actually work within the restaurant are some of the most clueless people I have spoken to and I feel disrespected as a whole having worked for them. I will never work for them again and I wouldn't recommend anyone else does.

Awful place to work

Staff are bullies and are two faced. vile place to work promised 30 hours and barley got 20 hours! Management is rubbish, when they want help there lovely but when you need help there not interested.

spent weeks doing safety courses only for the kitchen manager to ignore it,which resulted in injuries.Expected to work several hours over what we were meant to,but rarely paid for it.The overtime sheet often "vanished" and would reappear minus our over time.No home work balance.Poor management

No set hours get what your given rotas changed at a days notice constantly cutting hours expected to to the work of 2 people for minimum wage. Msnagement don't care no social life shifts are all nights and weekends unless your in the management click very high turnover of staff

Long hours with no work life balance, no support on recruitment during covid and after when the hospitality industry is on its knees. Higher management blame your management skills as the reason you can’t recruit rather than understanding it is a difficult time

Spent over three years working for them as FOH.Two years at a pub in Oxford, then got a transfer to a pub in Abingdon for six months. This job was so stressful. Had a few run-ins with customers so I decided to quit. Not really the company to work for.

Greene king are failing like a lot of employers to get new staff however the ones they do have are being blamed for the miss management and lack of motivation unfortunately after being told that they are now going to recruit new managers that are going to be the elite that also has yet to come to fruition.
