Work-life balance

Reviews

Great job but really going down lately
I’ve been working for this company for a little while now and honestly at first it was great, work life balance was brilliant and it worked around my life perfectly. But as Covid crept in the true colours of corporate have come out for not just Greggs of course but I’m referring to this company now. They cut staff dramatically and expected the current staff to pick up the slacks with no hazard pay (dangerous environment with customers not wearing masks half the time and having to go onto the shop floor constantly) and they’re opening shops earlier and earlier which affects our sleep and we’re already struggling for staff!!Truthfully now be aware that the company is changing and you might be forced to be at work at ridiculous hours in the morning all for a bacon sandwich!! They also hire staff that aren’t fully flexible just because they’re lazy and don’t want to do the hard work yet expect the rest of us to work weird shifts while they get guaranteed set shifts every week. It’s annoying. We’re also not seeing a bonus this year because we can’t afford yet are building 100s of new shops this year and a new bakery building worth millions, we are no longer a “Family” as they bragged so much about when I joined.Honestly it’s a good company so far but if you aren’t desperate for a job don’t bother.

The job is very fast paced
Working for Greggs is good and the people you work with are good . The work is very fast paced and you need to be a team player sometimes you have long days to work ie 12 hour shift the pay is very fair

Avoid unless you want mental heath issues
Management is a joke at Greggs if you haven’t been there a while then don’t expect to feel welcome they treat you like nothing and they expect you to be perfect staff talk behind your back and belittle you in any way and criticise everything manager has their favourites who just sit in the back chatting whilst you’re left alone on til doing all the hard work and only a 15 min break every 4 hours not worth it at all pay is okay but don’t expect to move up there’s no room for progression staff literally swear at you and call you dumb even though your only just training AVOID

Fastpaced and fun
Started in nov 2019 as team member quickly progressed to supervisor ..its a fastpaced job but one full off fun and rewards ...if you work hard you will fit in well at any greggs...go for it if opertunity arises
