Honestly, if you're writing a review complaining about working nights or weekends in a casino then the problem isn't the job. It's you. What did you expect? What did you think when you looked at the place's opening hours? So yeah, you will work unsociable hours, you will have to deal with awkward customers. Your social life will change. It's the nature of the business and it always has been. The pay isn't great, but it's better than it has been and more reviews are coming. Advancement is possible - I've seen 8 or 9 promotions in the last 6 months. but traditionally it's focused through the gaming department - it's tough to progress to management levels without a working knowledge of how roulette and blackjack work. The management do try to be fair with people, despite reports to the contrary. They will accommodate your life as much as possible if you talk to them. If you don't, how are they supposed to know? It's not for everyone and it is hard at times, but I've learned a huge amount in the time I've been here and made the best friends I've ever had.

Pros

Good culture and colleagues to work with. Genuinely fun and exciting

Cons

Unsociable hours Pay isn't great

Absolute rubbish, avoid at all cost

If you want to work on nights and weekends for minimum wage without any benefits with rude customers and bad management - this job is for you. I didnt feel valued, no chance for any progression, awful place to work

Unproductive and awful management/HR

In a declining economy and less interest in gambling and casinos, management and head office refuse to invest in the casino I worked in. If you're not best friends with Managers you will get nowhere, and the managers are the worst thing about the place. They dont work as hard as many of the staff, and even then only a handful of staff actually care about the work place and put the effort in.Managers break the law at times, mainly in customer fratinisation, give away free things when they shouldnt and yet they hammer away at the lower bracket of staff to carry the casino and make the company a profit. Even then, only 3 or 4 staff actually work their butts off while the rest chat away to the manager that hired them with no reprocussions. If you want to feel valued, do not work here. If you want a team that cares about you, do not work here. If you want progression, do not work here. If you want to be drepressed and unmotivated, work here.

Pros

50% Discount on food You get paid

Cons

Bad Management, poor team chemistry, no investment from HR, unmotivational atmosphere, no room for progression.

Avoid if possible

Used to be a good place to work but since new Manager took over with no experience it went down hill fast, very clicky. Head office need to wake up and see what's going on.

Pros

Tips, customers and most staff.

Cons

Seagull management, pay, working conditions. Could go on.

The kind of job you'll enjoy for the first few months then want to leave

The place runs basically like an expensive elderly care home during the day, and then at night there's a handful of newbies and regulars but not much ever, so you'll have to hope you've got a chatty coworker, and even then depending on the manager that can't even happen. Actual on-floor training was all over the place and you end up having to learn as you go and make mistakes which hopefully doesn't get flagged as health and safety or impede when there are actually customers that could complain, or be expensive to replace. Then there's the online training which is basically just ticking the rules and regulation boxes for the managers. Depending on which manager is on and who you've got with you on the same shift can make a difference, otherwise you'll be bored, on your own, not really making any drinks (which is the main fun), and having a manager that might call you up to make a coffee for the one customer upstairs. Every sector has their own group and mainly stick to their own which makes things less friendly. The novelty of the new environment and learning about the job was fun for me for the first 4 months, but now it's just a nuisance. The main way to progress in the sector is to be a dealer or a cashier which isn't any better since they have nothing to do.

Pros

Fun talking to people, making drinks, maybe progress to be a dealer

Cons

9 out of 10 you'll be doing nothing and getting physically and mentally tired, only fun when people or a party turn up

No work life balance , very little pay for nights and weekends

General staff good to work with and very friendly , company lacking diversity especially from ethnic groups. Upper management very poor with no staff welfare. Customers can be abusive , but overall you see the same customers on daily basis so you get a good relationship with them .

Pros

Staff social fund that helps with basic food in staff room, due to low wage and cost of living being so high .

Cons

Unsociable hours minimum wage taxi sometimes required when finishing early hours of morning

Need better pay

The work place it self is good but the pay is a bit of a problem for me, a dealer should paid more than they are. Management is ok I guess never really met any of the higher ups but I will say that if your casino starts losing money its projected on you like its your fault

Pros

Employee pension

Cons

Long/unsociable hours No free lunches Rarely get weekends off Customers

Fun workplace great atmosphere

Highly recommend loved the job had a few issues with management and main downside is obviously the nights but worth it if you don’t have commitments, hard to work around children unless you work days.

Awful Place to work!

you will literally have no life working here & you don't benefit by going to work ether as the pay to work ratio is awful. Management don't really have a clue what they are doing, have one style of management, treat the workplace like an army base. Everything from club level, payroll to head office is shocking, no communication what so ever. They expect the world from you and give nothing back, no rewards, no benefits, not even a decent rate of pay. Quicker I find a new job the better. Overall the worst company I've ever worked for & I don't think ill find worse than this!

Pros

customers

Cons

hours, pay, management, no life work balance.

brilliant

I work in different departments. .. if u are a night owl it is for you.. simple as... managerment is okay as far as people go but have no communication between them... get told one thing one day and something else the next ... although that was more to do with the covid. .

Pros

paid breaks ...

Cons

dont have enough space to write

Good team, bad management

Worked here for a while - minimum wage, long and late hours. One day you are day shift next day night shift. No social life, shockingly bad managers they sit in a ivory tower and you are scum basically, lots of drama for a small unit.Always wanting more. Tips can be good sometimes. Ok for a student wanting to work part time not a job for life.Hardest part of the job is the managers not a nice bunch just read previous reviews.

Pros

Not many to be honest.

Cons

Tips get split, drama, bullying, no social life

Cons

Long hours

Great People to Work with

Love all the team, everyone gets on great!! It's what makes the job worth staying for. You can get training for all the departments if you want, so you are not just working in one area. You can move departments if you feel that it would suit you better.

Pros

Great team, multi-skilled training, progression, stable job

Cons

Long hours, shift patterns, night shifts

Staff are great

The other team members are amazing and fun to work with most the time. Management, some are great at their jobs and being supportive while others seem to dissappear and not have any interest in anything. You see a different side of the public. The job itself is easy once you've learnt it. But there is no progression, no incentive, the job is nights mainly. Lots of favouritism. You can voice your opinion but nothing gets done. It's not the managments fault it IS head office cutting cost and having no idea what you actually have to do in a casino. Football, rugby, concerts, poker tournaments all bring an atmosphere that you have to be there to experience. Your expected to do your job as well as others.

Pros

Friendly staff.

Cons

Wage is terrible. Long hours. No benefits. No progression.

Great environment, terrible pay

The environment and people are amazing, all very hard working and want to do their best at all times. However, considering its late night and shift work minimum wage is off putting.

Pros

Work Environment you feel listened to

Cons

Shift work on minimum wage

Appalling company to work for

If your thinking of working for grosvenor casinos, don’t. Terrible management, very clicky, gaming staff and catering staff are treated very differently. Promotion only available to family members, management are lazy, poor communicators, bad attitudes and will stab you in the back. A greedy company who take a percentage of the tips. They expect you to work till 6am on your day off, just an all round terrible experience, avoid avoid avoid. Staff meals are like prison meals (slop) can’t leave the premises during your shift.

Pros

None

Cons

Everything
