Everyday brings it's challenges and benefits. The culture is one of family and inclusion and I have always felt part of the team. With a fast paced, collaborative environment work is varied and everyday is different.I enjoy the variety of work, roles and colleagues and have learned so much about sustainability, an added bonus to working for such an environmentally aware company.True to it's values in every way.

Like being at a circus

Typical day is starting work at 7:30, get given a random job by your supervisor and half the time the job doesn't need doing. Tools we need to do the job either are broken, don't work or we just don't have the tools. Most of the time we don't have the vehicles to get around the site so you're told to use your own car. Nobody cares about health and safety until after an accident has happened. Have to wait 6 months for new boots or any uniform that you need so probably better off buying your own. Never see management unless some major incident has happened. Very little training and no ability to progress. It's really a job to do before you retire or just out of school for a year maybe.

A shambles

Can only speak about where I work, morale is rock bottom in the work force with everyone looking for alternative employment elsewhere. Unachievable targets and a systematic blame every thing on the staff culture, numerous complaints by the client's. Management that has cut the previous staffing levels to 35% of previous level and expects to get everything done to the same level of service. Managers that have not worked in this sphere of work before so technically don't understand the nature of the work. Although the staff have many years of experience they are not listened to. Health & safety is a joke and is simply a veneer that is covered up by tool box talks on In short the worst employer I have ever worked for in my working life This company from the outside looks like a good one to work for, progressive, green, with lots of benefits to working for them. The reality is something completely different. This review will be only posted on the day I find alternative employment elsewhere.

Have yet to find any at all, the company looks so good in their blurb but it is just a veneer covering up the truth

Only SSP if you are ill, expenses still waiting months later to get back, overtime at single time no matter what day of the week or BH, various parties in the company do not reply to work related emails, IT department / soma don't even know how it works properly (standard fix is uninstall and reinstall, but you will lose your work data !

From a field team standpoint be careful

I would personally stay away from this company for subcontracting.They dump everything on you if a problem arises but say to your face they support you. They completely contradict themselves i feel they are not skilled enough or understanding enough for whats it like working as a grounds maintenance person. The pricing is ridiculous for today’s standards. I think Stevie Wonder must’ve quoted these jobs. They are smiling assassins. You have been warned. They try to keep giving you more work so you have to drop your personal work so they can control you like a puppet.

Subbie busters

Avoid like the plague, they have few employees but a huge churn of contractors to do the work they can’t and they seem to have a lot of problems paying them- all of which fall in ground control’s favour, oddly.

1. Work life balance is a joke.2. 6.30am to 6-7pm, still not good enough.3. If you like thinking you make lots of money , then you work out the hours you work and it's under £9ph!. Better off cutting grass and having a life.4. You are just a number and never forget that.5. 0 training.6. Being paid 4k less then a person who quit 3months in!...7. Whatever is told by management is lies, trust no one.8. Would never recommend this company to anyone, just full on 2 faced management... 9. The bidding team for grounds maintenance are a full on joke, I don't know how any of them got a job....

Horrid and nasty.

I wouldn’t know where to start with this company. Quite the worst place I have ever worked at. Management treated you like children, the little perks (free fruit etc) not enough to make up for the nasty environment. As a previous reviewer said, don’t put yourself through this. Get a job in Maccie D’s at least you’ll know what you’re getting into.

nice as pie to get u then treats u like dirt holds your pay at end of the contract you work your backend off and get no thanks at the end of it then you see the sites now that someone else is doing and they are like jungles weeds everywhere i left one weed and it was a halabaloo, then its email after email after email from office even at silly o clock in the night

Strange company, with little clarity on your role

I wouldnt recommend ground control to anyone with an arb background plain and simple as they don't really perform any arboricultural tasks, over the top risk management and hypocrisy for when it's suit there needs. Difficult place to work and feel proud of your work pay not great unless you do significant amounts of overtime.Good luck

If you like working on you're own, this is the job.

You have a site to litterpick, and a set number of hours, some days can be busy, but most of time , pick big bits up, empty bins if needed, area manager calls about once a month, so most of time, sit in cabin, and watch Netflix, easily the best job I've ever had , and most of the fast food store give you free coffee or snacks, and great for finding money in landscape.

Great place to work

Ground Control is a hard working environment that supports collaboration. There is a positive attitude between colleagues all aiming to achieve the same end goals.There is a great understanding of work-life balance with flexible work hours, and hybrid work set ups, but also the expectation to achieve and deliver your work load.I am very happy in my current role here.

Only get out what your willing to put in, good work life balance good quality kit- management are sound, pay isn’t best but you can up your earnings by doing extra work 10/10 company who leave me alone to get the work done

Nasty, greedy company who work you to death on a sub-average salary. Expect miracles on a daily basis. Get through sunnies like no tomorrow...they are absolutely hopeless.Don't even bother applying for a job at this company!

They will work you to the ground and give you little brakes. Pay wasn’t good at all for the work they don’t know how to price up jobs and don’t take into consideration the time it takes to get from job to job no praise given at all and will drop you just like that if your no longer needed

Just awful - they treat there staff and customers really badly yet great marketing and PR that paints a very different picture

This company is great at taking its pound of flesh from an customer and moving onto the next. The board and seniors are very aggressive and cutthroat with staff and I can honestly say I would beg someone not to put themselves through the interview process - you will just regret it. Don't get taken in by their PR - it just doesn't wash in the end product!

Expect a lot of hard work

Company are keen on winning awards but have poor skills in keeping staff happy and retained. A lot is expected of you including extra after hours work as a matter of course. Far too many Managers in too many tiers and all wanting to prove their worth to the detriment of the regular staff.

Deeply Silo'ed company with 'Ego-Centric' leaders

Ground Control was all about 'lip service'- the endeavour to embrace technology and make the division scale just wasn't backed up by the extremely poor leadership team.I have never been associated with such a 'non-empathetic' leadership group-who appointed a Managing Director that has virtually 0 people skills.The HR division is just an 'operational division' providing support to the hiring machine that's Ground Control. But there is NO endeavour to improve the existing 'working canvas'- devoid of the canvas being right-the paintings going to be rather muddled for new employees (like I once was)For a company like GC to scale and grow- the 'board (whoever that is)' must employ leaders that believe in growth and scaling their workforce based on practices of human innovation (rather than masking the culture with awards and poorly themed forums)It's not about winning awards- it's about winning hearts and minds of your employees- and currently, especially within Technology- that just isn't happening.

Complete overload work/life balance horrendous

Friendly staff, but the work/life balance is non existent, you need to be willing to work day and night to get all your work done, this is not a job for a person who wants a life out of work, the pressure is immense, decent salary and a nice car is probably the only pros.

Avoid like the plague, work life balance horrendous!!! Promise the earth, bonus, company car, progression but forget to mention the 60 hour weeks with NO overtime pay.

Poor pay, secure job

I worked for ground control for around 3-4 years as a sub contractor and directly employed on the tools and as a project manager.Overall they were OK to work for, pay could have been better though.
