H&M Employee Review

Alright workplace

Found H&M okay to work at. Most of my managers and colleagues were friendly and helpful. Work was fairly easy but repetative and boring. Customers tended to be nice enough and when faced with a rude customer managers always stood up for me, which was nice.

Awful toxic workplace

I would not recommend working for H&M Cardiff!. The understaffed issue from the staff turnover for people not wanting to stay more than 2/3 months. Management are useless and spend most the time in the office even when needed on the shop floor. I had little training and what I did receive was just from any random sales advisor which was available (they wouldn’t be aware of the training themselves).I learnt most of the job from the sales advisors as the managers just dump you on the shop floor. During the interview the managers thrived on career progression however there is realistically no progression.Managers and Visual merchandisers are not supportive to sales advisors despite them being managers and have an extremely stand off and rude approach to anyone who is below a team leader role. There is no work life balance as some shifts you’ll finish 9pm and be expected to start 7am the next day. (Which isn’t even a 12 hour break). You often find yourself having to ask other sales advisors management related things as the managers tend to stay upstairs in the office all day. The sales advisors are super friendly and helpful but they are all demotivated from the workload and pressure coming from the poor management.

Not really collaborative

Meeting with daily targets if you start in the morning. If you start at midday, means you close, they do not even care to tell you anything, jump to the tills or clear those rails, that is all.Closing it was really a nightmare because during the day they only wanted to keep the entrance in good condition. Therefore, the resto of the dutties including sorting the delivery could be left as the last thing to do. Result? you feel overwhelmed a the end of the day because, you di not know what time you were leaving. Did not to dare to say you needed to leave it was already 21.

Pros

Fast-paced environment

Cons

Bad rotas and not really encourage you to grow

Same roleSame location

A very busy role including running an entire floor usually on my own. I have learned to deal with customers effectively

Decent place to work. Very busy all of the time. Flexible with working hours and can fit around my commitments at home. Very busy at times of deliveries which can affect the shop floor.

Pros

Flexible, Discount

Cons

Long deliveries which affects shopfloor staffing
