Proud. I know so much about jewellery.
I was very proud, I felt like it was a respectable job at a well respected company. However, after a year the façade slipped and despite people telling me how lucky I was I felt embarrassed to work there.
H. Samuels is a renowned brand name, part of the well established Signet Group.
H. Samuels tends to always have customers coming in with differing requirements, meaning days are not too similar. H. Samuels offers watch battery replacement, watch link removal, jewellery repairs and more alongside the typical jewellery and watches it sells instore. It is interesting to learn how to carry out basic watch repairs which I did not know was part of the job.
Each store is very target driven, which does make a typical day challenging, as you must make the most out of every customer who comes in. If the store overall is in a target deficit, you will not be receive commission on sales as offered in interview. Your behaviours dealing with customers are often spotlighted. You must welcome every customer into store, ask them what brings them in today, which can feel quite forced. The process is known as 'The Perfect 10' which must be applied to every customer. It is quite detailed and intense.
Overall, it is more than just a sales job at H. Samuels. Every day is interesting and challenging and you hit the ground running from the first day of employment. Despite difficult targets, it is a pleasurable company to be employed by.
