Money money money.
Working at Halfords you soon realise its definitely more about money than looking after customers, staff, shops or autocentres. All regional managers and above, plus head office staff are VERY well looked after, but if you work in a shop or autocentre do not expect to be anything other than a number. Pay is poor, too much work, very little support, customers overcharged, targets always too high. Very secure job because they don't sack anyone, they struggle to hire and everywhere is short staffed, so don't worry about getting sacked for anything less than burning the building down.

Misleading management
Poor training and way to many targets. You can get a disciplinary for not collecting data e.g email's and license plates. Do not work here...The customer's are also very demanding and aggressive.

overworked and underpaid
Worked as a specialist in Frome store and was left running a weekend with 5 new colleagues who all needed training this was a common occurrence all while still needing training myself on running the store, more experienced colleagues normally willing to help but due to scheduling none were available

Good place to progress
Good training given, good place if you want to work your way of starting from apprenticeship all the way to management, some managers are very friendly, but you can find some not so friendly

Same hours
Hours didn’t suit same all the time working bank holidays for no extra pay same as Sundays so decided to leave especially being expected to work over Xmas

I applied for Department Supervisor and the telephone interview consisted of; 1) Tell me about a time you provided outstanding customer service. 2) What were your duties as a supervisor at another job? 3) If I had experience in key holding and following security procedures? 4) How many people were you managing within that role? 5)Tell me about a time that was difficult or stressful within your role? 6) Tell me about a time when you worked in a fast-paced environment? 7) Tell me about a time you worked in a high-pressure situation. They then went on to talk about any knowledge of bikes and cars, with the role I applied for if I was asked if I am willing to stay long term with the company, asked about my willingness to progress and build up knowledge within the company, my location from the store, what my availability is and if I was available for overtime.
