I’ve previously worked with the Nottinghamshire Branch of Hamilton Cross and can only say great things! From the recruitment guys to management and the brilliant bookings team.Always very communicative and friendly, always on the ball with my availability and booking my shifts and kept me working through the Covid Pandemic! Flexible and friendly, can’t go wrong! Great team and agency to work for.

Toxic environment unless you jump to their tune

Nottingham branch what an absolute load of children. First impression so full on and really wanting you to work, give availablity and they don’t like it. Have to cancel a shift cause you have a hospital appointment and they say why didn’t you tell me before. Then if you stand your ground they cancel all your shifts, and never respond to you again! Plus they charge you to get paid so all the “extra benefits” you don’t actually get! If you not on their fav list you’re out! Toxic! Avoid!

They don't value you or respect your commitments to other things in life. I got removed from further shifts because I let them know a day before I had a delivery due on the day I was meant to be in and told them many hours in advance

Very happy with my experience of Hamilton Cross.

What is the best part of working at the company?Flexibility. Reliably paid. Friendly office staff.What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Getting shifts cancelled, but this is one of the accepted parts of agency work.What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Very happy with everything I've experienced.

Plenty of Hours

I have worked for Hamilton for around 5 years and have always got the hours I have needed on the days I wanted to work . You are paid weekly, you can claim for your traveling expenses and many other expenses which a lot of other care agencies do not.

Loads of shifts at first

Frequent cancellation of shifts with no other shifts offered as a replacement.Lack of communication and shifts.I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall when I'm asking for shifts. They only operate on availability that doesn't really land you a shift.Currently seeking somewhere else to work as I need to prioritise my financial stability that they're simply not providing.Also you have to pay a % towards the payroll company (max £17 per week or so) they use and mileage is not paid to you directly. They do it through tax.If you ignore your staff, expect a high turnover.

Pros

You can get your foot in the door with other care companies easily

Lack of shifts. Shifts are always an hour or more drive

Okay company to work for however struggled with some days with long distance travel when asked to stay local and didn’t get given this opportunity when leaving manager was very rude and took a long time to do a reference for me as seemed they were doing it out of spite, was nice to gain experience and work in different places but would not go back

Don’t put your eggs in one basket with Hamilton cross

At first it was great ! Shifts was given and booking team was great. But as soon as you have a concern to raise and it isn’t appreciated, expect no shifts. Most defiantly have fav staff they allocate shifts too 5,6,7 days and leave others with none (if your face don’t fit) They also lie within the booking team in regards to what shifts they have. Can be patronising, very unsupportive of home life situations when cancelling or late for shifts out off your control.

Ready to work in 5 days after registration, best advice is to work under your own ltd company, after all it is all about living the now and earning big bucks.

Good agency

Great agency to work for. The staff is lovely and very helpful 24/7.Very professional, payment is not amazing but care doesn't pay much anywayEasy to book and cancel shifts, great place to work for

Clear cut job roles, good benefits and commission

Very supportive company, very clear with job roles and you know what to do and where you stand 99% of the time. Pays more for on call than most companies. would recommend working here.

Wouldn't recommend

You have to pay for your wages to be sorted and they don't pay all your mileage I did 3 days only got paid for 2 days mileage and basically came out with less than minimum wage

Excellent office staff. Great job

Amazing staff in the office, they are always there when you want them and they always go the extra mile to help. Always friendly and always have time for you, even at weekends or evenings.And best of all they are always behind you 100%I love working for the agency.You choose when and where you want to work. No problem.

I love where I'm working at the moment

Hamilton Cross is not a bad agency company too work for they are helpful friendly supportive when needed the pay is pretty fair and you get enhanced benefits for working bank holidays and public holidays Christmas ect............. But you don't get sick pay or holiday pay so that's a down side to Hamilton Cross and your not guaranteed shifts every week either so your job is on a weekly and day by day basis if you understand what I mean. They have been really good to me and with me so I would recommend them to work for if agency is the way you wish to work 👍😉 I've worked for worse on the books companies and agencies in the past so I'd give Hamilton Cross a 4.5star rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐🌟

Friendly Nursing Agency

Well there is certainly more work for HCA’s than RN’s, but that said my local branch try their best to find suitable shifts for me. The office staff at my local branch are really helpful and professional and I feel I could approach them of there was a problem.My only slight criticism would be that at times an awful lot of my wage has been deducted in HMRC Costs and other such things

Love the flexibility and choice of work available, office staff are great and always on hand to help. i can work this job around my life and never pushed to work shifts i dont want

Too much travelling, not enough hours

Not enough hours, what hours you get are miles and miles away. No holiday pay. The mileage you get paid is a month behind, you never get paid it all. You put your availability to work through and constantly get hassled to pick up shifts outside your availability and area.

Pros

You choose your days off. You gain experience in various settings.

Cons

No holiday pay, You don't get paid all your mileage, Periods of no work, Unreliable hours, Zero hour contract. Constant emails and texts.

Good company to work in

I love that they have lots of work. I have never gone without a shift. I also love that they book me in homes I’m most comfortable in and are closer to home. Shifts are booked in advance which gives enough time to plan. I love it here
