Avoid this Company!

Because of the nature of the job it is very hard to be given the time to advance up the pay scale. You tend to get placed on one area which only had a certain amount of skills,so very difficult to get up to higher levels of pay. There is also a lot of occasions where TeamWork definitely does not occur, as everyone just looks after their own department.

Very poor

Normally each day is very busy, you can work even seven days a week but salary is in real very poor. I met many people worked for this company roughly only 10 percent was happy of this job. I can not recommend this company.

Hard to earn constant steady income

I think I worked in a hard area and was always sent to people who were forced to accept a free appointment with no chance of them actually really wanting to purchase, when it was good it was good, but over a yera and earning a grand whilst adding mileage to my clock, not good.

Great job satisfaction can be achieved

To many problems with management not looking after the fitters. Failure to supply correct materials with to many survey errors. Fitters are penalised with pay deductions all to often when it's not their fault . No fuel costs allowed for . Used to be a great company to work for. But now it's hard to make a decent wage and cover expenses as a self employed fitter

Pros

Decent money when it all goes right

Cons

Long days

Fast paced, friendly environment

A great place to work but a lack of hours led me to look elsewhere for employment, mainly weekend work but decent money, good management and helpful staff , overall enjoyed my short time here.

Pros

Decent pay

Cons

Lack of hours

Poor place to work

You show commitment and dedication and get nothing back. Never get praised for doing a good job and management is to be desired. Customers are pushed aside after sales and given poor treatment. Would definitely not recommend a bedroom/office or kitchen from Hammonds, let alone work for them.

Pros

Can make good friends

Cons

Too many

Good work if there is any

Everybody gets promised ÂŁ200 a day,ÂŁ1000 a week, problem is for john lewis jobs you only get ÂŁ180 a day, training and pay for training is really good, unfortunatly a serious lack of work in the aberdeen area. Asked to drop my own work at a moments notice to go and replace a door or adjust a unit at ÂŁ15 a time. Lucky if i recieved 2 jobs in a month at points.. didnt even cover the van payments for the van they require you to get which is needed to carry all the materials

Pros

Good money if jobs are steady

Cons

Dont care that you need to work to live

Flexible & Fun

Probably my most enjoyable job. Really loved working with this company, shame it was all on a self employed basis though. Would have been better if there had been a set salary plus commission rather than commission only.

Pros

good income opprunity

Cons

All comission based

Simply awful.

What can I say about this place other than awful, boring, bad rates of pay, no real support from management, I had only been working there a few days and I was left totally alone to look after the place. Not good!!!

Pros

None

Bad management

Good place to work, poor management

Depending which department you work in, Hammonds is a good or a bad place to work. The higher you climb, the closer you get to the politics of Senior Management, and if one of those people notices you but doesn't like you, they will do everything possible to block you out. However, stay in the main office, for a Customer Service role of sorts, or keep your head down, and you'll have a Monday-Friday role which will tick over nicely, with opportunities to increase your salary in accordance with experience. If you are an ambitious person looking to advance your career, just make sure every member of Senior Management is your best friend. Day-to-day work is always manageable, some people get stressed but I really don't think there is too much hard work. I learnt many skills and gained a lot of experience, and I cannot fault Hammonds for that.

Pros

Free parking, canteen facilities, not demanding, opportunities to travel in certain roles

Cons

Pay could be higher, car park can be very full, difficult to create a serious career

Busy with high workload

Poor management and unfair policies make this company difficult to work for and earn a decent wage. Long hours and fuel costs only covered after 80 miles per day lowers your take home pay considerably.
