They are always going to be there so it's a secure job, as long as government keep school escorts going that is!
It seems to stumble from crisis to crisis with no real accountability for Taxpayers money whilst making a "good show" of ticking all the PC correct matters and government targets.Why on earth would you provide people with early retirement or redundancy options to "show we are saving money" while putting all the rest of the staff under immense pressure to pick up the slack, and then, when they are breaking from the strain, go out to "bring in contractors" at almost twice the price (but less overhead) to plug the gaps in work!! The problem is lack or leadership from the top and a reliance on process over common sense. Having said all that I am not sure any other Council is different, maybe I will be surprised one day!
I am looking forward to new experiences within the challenges of the new environment i will be working in.
