Pay is decent but the job itself is tedious
Team Member (Current Employee) - Sheffield - 30 April 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThe people you work with make it a better job than what it is. The pay is also decent for what you do. The downside is that majority of managers don’t understand that staff need lives outside of work and the rotas being all over don’t help with this. The LEGAL break that should be given during a shift is never given due to being left alone of shifts
Pros
Decent pay
Cons
No breaks

Run a mile…
Customer Service Assistant (Former Employee) - Richmond - 3 August 2023
You’ll work way to many hours with no breaks. You’ll be given very little training and then expected to do a shift until midnight on your own. Not safe for the younger staff members. No teamwork. Poor Management team overall. The shop I worked in had lots of staff come and go, not worth it.
Pros
Good pay
Cons
Everything else

Fun workplace
Customer Service Assistant (Current Employee) - Coseley - 24 July 2023
Only been here a week or so and really enjoying it so far. Would preferably like to change my shifts from 6-2 to 2-10 though. The people here make the job 100x more enjoyable

Unsupported, stressful, just a horrible place to be
CSA - Customer Service Assistant (Former Employee) - West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire - 10 July 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Worst company I’ve ever worked for. They put that many demands on you and give you no support. Everything you do is never good enough What is the most stressful part about working at the company? You get no support from your area manager who is constantly stressed themselves. They promise you the earth and never follow it up. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Horrible , full of stress and unrealistic demands. Your manager is stressed, the area manager is then consequently stressed and this is then all passed down to you. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Stressful and miserable, the best thing I ever did was walk away from that awful environment

Good so far
Retail Manager (Current Employee) - Richmond - 5 June 2023
I’ve been with Harvest a little over 3 months and have loved it so far, seem to be advancing technology to get the lone working element of the job a bit easier. It’s the same as any job it is what you make it, good and fair higher management team and really supportive teams to ensure you hit your goals in the end.

Sad: a very small team which should mean a very happy team
Customer Service Assistant (Former Employee) - South Normanton, Derbyshire - 24 May 2023
Morale very LOW, some really nice amiable people work there. Attrition rate high. A few people cause the low morale. In my opinion local management not approachable, considerate nor supportive.
Pros
Pay ok
Cons
Low morale, attrition rate High.

Jobs at Harvest Energy
Poor facilities, poor pay compared to other fuel companies.
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - North East - 29 January 2023
Facilities are poor, all need updating. Most of the time dirty compared to sites we deliver too. Pay and holidays are a joke. Only company I know where the sub contracted fuel company drivers are on more. Tier one and two set up. A good job toget into the industry and move on once you get experience
Pros
Health and safety
Cons
Holidays, pay, upper management, facilities, old trucks and tanks.

Valued staff member
Retail site Manager (Current Employee) - Wendover - 6 October 2022
I have worked at Harvest Energy for many years now, recently promoted to retail site manager. I have been made to feel I am a very valued member of the team. Every day is fast paced with lots of variety. Generous salary, opportunity to earn extra monthly/ quarterly bonuses and progress. Lots of support from Area manager, head office and Hr.
Pros
Great support

Horrible
Site Manager (Former Employee) - Bury hill - 4 August 2022
Horrible place to work, company training standards are non existent. Pay was ok. Be prepared to not have a life as if a night shift worker calls in sick and you’ve worked all day you’ve got to go in and cover the night shift. Mentally drained me completely as a person.

Lovely customers hopeless management
Customer Service Assistant (Former Employee) - Leicestershire - 25 March 2022
Don’t bother unless you want to live at the place. Favouritism for certain people. Don’t expect days off when needed. No breaks. Expect to start 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after work hours without pay.
Pros
Nice customers
Cons
Long hours, unappreciated

Not enough staff, unrealstic expectations
Administrator (Former Employee) - Weybridge, Surrey - 4 March 2022
Asked to work 24/7 for no extra benefits, will threaten your job if you do not do what management ask, they argue when you ask for your legal entitlement, with regards to holiday and time off. The culture is people to work longer hours than the next. They do not listen to ideas to improve the buisness
Pros
None
Cons
Long hours

Not a great culture, massive amounts of staff turnover as area managers work 15hour days and they pass down their stress.
Store Manager (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 8 February 2022
Massive amounts of reporting with no assistance when you say you don't have time in the day to get all reports/ stock counts done. Time off is a problem as there is never staff able to cover managers, and then guess what, at the end of the year they delete your annual leave. Teams calls with no direction. Area managers sending messages to you after hours as late as 10:30pm when you are off. Paper trails for refunds/ voids and staff transactions for you 10% on overpriced goods. HR does not support staff, staff work alone most of the time and expect to cover a busy site and do deliveries by them selves. Endless stock counts and massive amounts of due diligence. Paper trails for refunds/ voids and staff transactions for you 10% on overpriced goods.
Cons
Long hours. Low pay Stress all the time with threats No support, need more staff. Repairs never done, after endless reporting

Impossible place to work
Manager (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 22 January 2022
Worst company I have worked for. Leadership values are awful. People are not treated with respect. No motivation and recognition. No planning from the leadership and expect everyone to deliver things at a drop of a hat. No support what so ever. Management created an environment where people were scared to speak up in meetings and zoom calls as you would get shouted down or ridiculed. Give them a wide birth!
Pros
None
Cons
Hours required to do the job, Lack of support, Poor training at all levels, No investment in people, Everyone is treated like they are rubbish at their job, No one is willing to listen to others perspectives

Good work place for progression upwards and for first time job but not somewhere you would be forever
Supervisor (Former Employee) - Thirsk, North Yorkshire - 21 January 2022
I enjoyed working for the company and got on with all my staff and we had a good little shop and forecourt that was well run and presented , all customers would compliment how clean and we'll off it was but it was the pay that loses the decent staff and managers don't seem to care or want to listen to you.
Pros
What effort you put in is what you get and you get NMW, easy to work your way up the ladder
Cons
Can be long hours if you let it happen, not paid fairly, no equality and always left in the deep end

This job is mentally draining!
Having worked here a long time, the place has well and truly been run into the ground! Expected to run around like a blue arsed fly in an extremely busy site whilst on your own, deliveries are left on the shop floor for hours because your on your own and just cant get to do anything but serve customers, sometimes can be stood for hours in the same spot, no break, not knowing when your next going to be able to get to the toilet. Says a lot when all long standing staff leave and cant get anyone to fill their spots.
Pros
None
Cons
No breaks, unsociable hours, work alone
