The title says it all, some upper managers think too highly of themselves but I had a very good overall experience there. Salary was low but I guess it’s the same in most department stores.The free travel card was an amazing benefit and the staff is really friendly.Discounts are a plus for beauty but their clothes are really overpriced even with it!

Overall the staff were lovely and day to day tasks were absolutely fine. The problem is the management. They constantly change the rules to suit them and don't care about mental health at all. They talk down to you like a child while continuously micro-managing. You'll be lucky to get a requested day off and assume you don't have a life. The hours are long and very rarely finish before 8 pm. There are no customers meaning targets are completely unrealistic, leading to a meeting with management when not achieving them.

Don’t work here unless you want to feel penalised or talked down too like like a child.management think they are better than everyone and micro manage because they have nothing better to do.I was warned not to work here and can see why.be nicer to your staff! Get of your high horse and Treat them like humans.

Awful . Don’t do it . Run!!! Horrible place . No training , expectations for targets unrealistic. Management farsical . If you have bad mental health working there will make it worse. Some really lovely staff but overall I’d rather lick windows clean as a job.

Back of house in its current state will make you want to rip your hair out. There is a reason for the high staff turnover despite the big name. If you love being a robot this job is for you.

Good place to work

Good place, badly managed

Good place to work if you’re interested in an easy job with great colleagues! Management, however, are very incompetent at managing a team - you have to be very self-sufficient here and be able to stand your own ground. Company also talks about progression, which is rare, and you need managements approval to progress and 90% of the time they decline it.

Harvey Nichols is like a family, as it is a relatively small store. the atmosphere is friendly and you get to see a lot of celebrities!The pay isn't fantastic but the free travel card makes it up for it.

Good experience, but long hours

It is a competitive environment. The work day is 8 hours long and each employee is allocated a 1 hour lunch break and a half an hour break before closing time. Commission is 0.5% but rises to 1% if you meet 80%/ 90% of your monthly target. The staff are lovely.

What is the best part of working at the company?Racist and toxic environment. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Long hours and zero rewards.The Floor managers worked around with a bad attitude. Very biased with kids playground mentality. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Toxic workplace I would never put myself through that again. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Standing around for hours, trying to persuade customers to buy beauty products from you. Cleaning the one area repeatedly for hours. Poor management/organisation for the day. It’s very sales oriented and can be stressful, if target are not met.

Well what can I say this company isn't what you think it will be . No training on stock very un organized company and definitely lot of theift.Stock every where and empty boxes with stock missing .Security are good at what they do but I think it could be better x.Being on a concession I would say is better than working for Harvey Nicholas as the pay was at least 1 / £2 more an hour . They could come and go as they please. longer breaks etc . I would not recommend working here as they bang on about the reward app keeping the loyal customers but they never congratulate you on your good sales and customer service. The hours are so long and when days are quiet it's so sole destroying.
