Lack of structure in the organisation

Daily work routine is busy and hard work but a great job if you’re organised and surround yourself with a great shop team. Upper management is a mess, with area managers unsupportive when needed and creating more problems than solving them. As a whole the organisation is very slapdash and very much “make it up” as they go along. Can be frustrating to work for but it is a great cause.

I volunteered as a fundraiser for Helen and Douglas House and had a target of £3,500 sponsor money for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. I had support throughout from an officer on the fundraising team and was really impressed with their commitment and enthusiasm. The trip itself was well organised. Fun and welcoming workplace

My experience has been very positive. My coworkers have been very friendly and helpful, and I had an no difficulty adapting to the workplace environment. Of course, this is voluntary work. Very helpful if one needs something to do with their time. Position was not paid.
