Flexible work place not paid well their demands and what they want to pay you is not worth it.
Self Employed Courier (Current Employee) - Chingford - 16 May 2022
Very poor management, couriers not looked after , very bad salary but there is some flexibility in terms of starting time and finishing time , they demands a lot from courier but they don’t pay enough at all. Every driver walk-in he can be offered the job and the management don’t care if he can do the job or not - EVery courier gets different rate and the work is the same although you might be doing area which is harder than other who gets more than you.

Okay place to work
HGV Class 2 Driver (Current Employee) - Bridgend - 15 May 2022
Start time for night drivers won't suit everyone common 00:00 start times. Vehicles range from old to new. As most places management and organisation are lacking. Good place to get experience if you a new HGV Class 2 driver.
Pros
Unsure
Cons
Start time, Management

Do not work here
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire - 14 May 2022
Pay is dependent on how much parcels you deliver, no money given towards fuel even if you chase them and ask for some. Long hours if you actually want to make some money. Lorry with parcels always late to come to depot and you end up waiting and don’t get paid for that time.
Pros
None
Cons
Everything

short time at depot, short hours delivering depending on amount of parcels
Parcel Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Skegness - 13 May 2022
i still work at hermes and i will say the positive sides are the fact you work on your own mostly and if you get on quickly you can finish early, bad points is terrible management, you ask questions but get fobbed off, they offer you work on the wrong days when they know youre busy, then blame you for their mistakes… they dont give a dam about the health ( physical or mental ) of the drivers, you are just a number! the only thing managers care about is getting the parcels out there no matter who much blood is spilt! appalling attitude to workers, no guarantee of work, advice, dont work for this awful company! apply for one that will actually employ you!

Leave well alone
Multi Drop Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Carluke - 9 May 2022
Fuel and insurance costs £4000 a year and you must have your own vehicle and up to date smartphone to run their software - all that before you start delivering parcels for which you get paid 40p - 75p a parcel. That’s a lot of parcels to deliver before you make any money. Management are worse than useless - they only care about getting parcels delivered.

Tiring and not enough paid
Courier (Former Employee) - Castleford, West Yorkshire - 6 May 2022
The pay rate per parcel has never been enough. No fuel allowance. The ad stating £10 per hour is false especially as the pay is less than 50p per parcel. Once you get working for the company it's averaging around £5 per hour once parcels are worked out. It's a ridiculous company with management lining their pockets

Easiest lorry driving job
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Dundee, Dundee City - 4 May 2022
It’s an easy job but the drivers aren’t paid very well. Mostly all the runs are up north. Most artics are unloaded with a forklift and unload yourself if using a rigid with a tail-lift. Lots of waiting around for empty pallets and returns.
Pros
Easy work
Cons
Low pay

Awful place to work
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Nottingham - 2 May 2022
DONT DO IT !!!!!! I worked at the Nottingham depot and i'm sure anyone who works or who has worked there,.. minus anyone who's higher up getting paid to do nothing but to watch us work,.. will say its awful. It is not worth the stress and your mental health.. can't even say your time and money because if you work there you haven't got any time to do anything outside of work and the money is below average for what they put you through!! The managers and team leaders are all on massive power trips!! Most of them have NO management skills and talk to you like you're worthless. Overtime is EXPECTED of you, they don't even ask you if you can stay past your hours, they just expect you to stay. THEY NEVER PAY YOU CORRECTLY!!!! Over the 7/8 months i worked there i never got paid right, every month, half of my colleagues wouldn't have been paid right either, always missing a few hundred pounds, some never even got paid at all. The woman that works in payroll needs investigating!!!! Honestly, this company is a joke and i would highly recommend anyone to stay clear of this place as you'd be a lot better off not having a job than working here.
Pros
nothing
Cons
everything

Easy
Hermes Courier (Former Employee) - Rotherham - 29 April 2022
Great place to work as you are your own boss, can set your own ETA’s so work at a time that suits you, and it offers a great work-life balance. The pay isn’t amazing but you get paid per parcel so it depends how much you want to work.
Pros
Own boss
Cons
Money isn’t great - paid per parcel

Poorly Paid and Overworked
Self Employed Courier (Former Employee) - Falkirk - 28 April 2022
The job itself would be ok if not for the poor rate per delivery, ridiculous scheduling and the unreasonable amounts/sizes that you are expected to jam into your own car. It's not really self employed either as you are given a time to arrive and management on your case if a parcel is left behind(usually due to size eg you can't fit a dining room table into a vauxhall corsa) but they make you take it anyway or nothing at all. But if you are willing to work for less than minimum wage, get your car interior filthy from parcels that have been lying around a wet, mucky car park and not have a life then this is the job for you...

It is what you make out of it
Courier/Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Scotland - 20 April 2022
It can be good money but you do work hard for it. Best to start around November and you'll get a better rate for peak. Then refuse to lower your rate.

Sad place to work at
Day Loader (Former Employee) - Sheffield - 19 April 2022
The job is OK and the majority of the staff you work with are good. The problem is that the management are only bothered about protecting their jobs instead of making it a better place to work in.

If you can’t find anything else
HGV Class 1 Driver nights (Former Employee) - Brooklands - 19 April 2022
A really weird place To secured a good place it’s not what you know , but who you know . You could be the biggest drip ever but if you knew someone up the chain your safe . Even if you can’t do the job. Night wave always on to get the trucks out and load them as quickly to get more runs out of you 24 pallets on 24 off . The units are a very poor show held together with tape and only fit for the scrap yard . Mangers and supervisor are a joke . Allways on your back no people skills as all Hermes reviews state . But nothing gets done . It’s ok to change the name but still the same underneath. Like moving the deck chairs on the titanic it still sunk . It needs a very big shake up to get everyone singing from the same page .
Pros
Free water at the tap
Cons
To many to mention

Stress
Multi Drop Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - London - 19 April 2022
You have to rent your own vehicle that comes out of your wages, petrol, congestion charge and any parking fines. You are promised £500 a week but after you pay out everything needed honestly you will be paid about £350. You have to work one month in advance and on the fifth week you would receive one weeks pay.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
long hours
