It was self employed back then. Colleagues and managers were awesome, so we're the customers. It was a good job with fair pay, but after while, things changed, the morning lorry came late meant our working times and arrangements had to change with it.

Less professional than Amazon, as you'd expect

No fixed shift hours, could only leave when the work was finished (9-12 hours..) littered with health and safety violations, which I didn't really care about but it just shows how pathetic they are

Pros

Probably offer a lot of hours (maybe you owe money to loan sharks)

Cons

No fixed end-of-shift time. You can only leave when the batch is finished

Good if like working alone

The best is you can plan the deliveries round your personal life, as long as the parcels are picked up before 11.30 and delivered by 9 you can set times to suit you, hard to start with as you dont know your route, but if you get a permanent route you can get quite quick at it. amount of parcels vary due to time of year, dont get paid alot per parcel though so need a few to make it worth doing, you have to use own petrol and vehicle, and to be properly insured you need Hire and Reward which is quite expensive, they do offer a top up insurance but alot of insurance companies wont accept it as its only third party, so if anything happened to your own car it doesnt get sorted. best checking woth insurance companies before committing how much it will be and if they accept the top up and if you crashed would it cover your vehicle.

Pros

Work round commitments

Cons

Insurance and petrol and wear and tear on car.

Horrible

Avoid at all costs. Unappreciated underpaid and seriously overworked let alone the toll it takes on your own vehicle and the cost of fuel makes it not worth while at all

Stressful and no work life balance and low paid but paid on time.

What is the best part of working at the company?Advantage of working for Evri is that you are allocated an area and you will deliver in the same area daily, the disadvantage is you have to work 6 to 7 days. Work life balance nill. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Management don't care about you, but they just cover their backs. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? No health and safety in the sutton branch at all. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Stressful but you will manage your time.

Good job, made bad by minority

Worked for Hermes for 16 years. In my opinion management will do anything to safe guard themselves, whatever the effects on other employees. Not to be trusted, will rip you off to save a penny, underhanded despicable management when I worked there. With this there was also back stabbing so called colleagues of whom were great to your face but took a step back when there was a problem. May of changed now, been a couple of years since leaving there. Depot management just made it awful

Pros

Could be a job for life

Cons

Don't trust anyone

What is the best part of working at the company?Honestly the worst company I've ever worked forWhat is the most stressful part about working at the company?Speaking to the managers, and not getting any help when you need itWhat is the work environment and culture like at the company?Go through staff faster than any company I've ever encountered and use policies and processes when it's beneficial to them only instead of all the timeWhat is a typical day like for you at the company?Get shouted and moaned at all morning and then run around like a madman for the rest of the day

Avoid

I worked here for two years, and it was okay at first, I enjoyed being out on the road, but then the poor management kicked in. I had my second easy route removed, just to save them money, and given a terrible route. When I complained, I was given a mouthful of swear words by the so called manager! I left there and then!

Fast paced

Says exactly what it means in the Tin. Fast paced on road until all deliveries are made. Miserable customers but it comes with every job some clients were nice

Pros

Good pay more you deliver more you earn

Cons

Monthly pay can change pay dates in intervals

Very bad management

Very bad management. I won't recommend to anyone to experience the behaviour of transport manager. At the interview they say everything's brilliant until you start working. I discussed something at the interview about the payments and when I receive mt contract I was shocked. I was to ask if it was a mistake on my contract wage and I was told that this is what everyone has and if you don't like just leave. Wasting of time, working in a very bad environment and chaotic management.

Pros

Nothing

Cons

Everything

Excellent unskilled pay rates. Fairly flexible hours. Boring/not rewarding

If you are someone who is fairly fit, mentally strong and motivated then you can make 30-50k a year if you get friendly with management and ask for plenty of work, but prepare to work your body and mind at a fast pace all day. Pay is usually weekly.Hourly rates can vary from £15 for beginners to £50 for experienced drivers (6 months in). Expect to spend up to an hour per day sorting your parcels (UNPAID). i would say minimum working day is 3 hours and maximum of 8. There is virtually no training so find someone fast and ask them for advice, they will happily help as they weren't trained either, the key is to understand you are aiming for a parcel every minute or two and get creative to achieve this. Most drivers are down to earth and friendly but you obviously work alone.Highest earners have a set route with a high parcel rate (rural areas) and know their route to perfection delivering 40-60 parcels per hour 6/7 Days a week. A good pace is 30 parcels per hour which is very achievable within a month or two. There are benefits to using both cars and vans you just have to play to your vehicle's strengths. Some of the highest earners have large vans, some have tiny cars, nothing too valuable but music and A/C are essentials!Go into this job with an exit plan or you will be trapped by the high earnings in a very boring and physical job which requires a high level of focus at all times. From my experience the first few months can be very rewarding as it's like a game that pays more every day you get better. Towards the end of my job life i was making £100-£150 per day -

Pros

High Earnings for Motivated Drivers

Cons

No Job Satisfaction Or Promotion

Hermes drivers

Self employed No training Pay own petrol Not paid for trying to deliver to a property if they are not in it’s your own time trying neighbours to leave a parcel. I was too soft . If you don’t deliver on time you won’t get a bonus . Customers slate us for leaving anywhere , yet they haven’t left a safe place to leave it . You get slated my customers but they don’t realise you get pence for trying to deliver. I cared to much and didn’t get paid for caring . Customers don’t care and may record you and you end up on social media. I rang a video doorbell, to be told to throw it over the fence, so I did then you get people videoing you showing you just threw it !!! Paid for nothing unless you gave a regular round and a big van

Pros

Your own hours

Cons

Pay for fuel, deliver anywhere but no pay for waiting to put a package anywhere
