I love working at Dragonby Road
Team Leader (Current Employee) - Scunthorpe - 4 October 2022
Featured review
Hesley Group selected this as a representative reviewI have worked at Dragonby Road for a year now, and I love every minute! The whole team including managers, are brilliant, everyone is so supportive and approachable. We are all the same at Dragonby Road, we have different roles but everyone is important and listened to and we all work together for the best possible outcomes!

Insights into Hesley Group
What people like
- Clear sense of purpose
Areas for improvement
- Sense of belonging
- Trust in colleagues
- General feeling of work happiness
Waste of time and effort
Education (Former Employee) - Doncaster, South Yorkshire - 4 November 2023
If you value yourself and your career prospects then I'd give the so-called opportunities here a miss. This company will make good use of your time, enthusiasm and skills learned previously in return for very little useful cpd, career prospects and recognition unless your face fits. Forget professional competence. Work at having a laugh and bringing in treats and you'll go much further! If you want a job where you go the extra mile, only to see the one still parked at the service station having a Costa and a giggle getting the rewards then this is the place for you. Shame because students are amazing and deserve better. Do yourself a favour - keep your skills level and self esteem and don't bother.

Good if your in with the cliques
Support Worker (Former Employee) - Doncaster, South Yorkshire - 18 October 2023
It was a nice place to work, friendly staff. However when raising issues to management it takes a while for them to be looked into or sorted. Very cliquey and if they like you you'll be picked for the better jobs!

Don’t do it
Team Leader (Former Employee) - Doncaster, South Yorkshire - 2 October 2023
As a support worker the job is fine. But don’t ever go for team leader. You get treated like rubbish, even if it isn’t your fault you get blamed for it. Bad management. Bad company

poor

there is poor care and support from managers at all levels. i felt like just another number through the door, and there is a high turnover of staff every month.

Minimum wage private care
Care Worker (Former Employee) - Doncaster, South Yorkshire - 13 September 2023
Wouldn’t recommend unless it’s starting job, managers were unapproachable. Hours are fixed little flexibility or understanding if struggling with mental health

Good
Senior Support Worker (Current Employee) - Doncaster, South Yorkshire - 17 August 2023
I really enjoy my job and the people I work with are amazing. The job can be very hard at times. The training is well presented and informative. Rates of pay are good if you look at others.

Exciting work environment
Health Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Barnsley, South Yorkshire - 11 August 2023
Care and attending to clients which includes basic support and ensuring they are well taken care of. I have learnt how to work with patients and manage their personal support. Getting to see work and life balance well established seems like a great deal for me. T

One of the worse places I have worked
Support Worker (Former Employee) - Doncaster - 2 July 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The individuals that live in the properties. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Bad management that don't listen and are not bothered about their staff.. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Management have favourites. If your not up their butt's, their not interested in you. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Busy. It changes depending on the individual you're supporting

Avoid
If you appreciate your well-being - don't do this to yourself and don't apply for this job. I have experience from quite few office environments and management never treated me as bad as they did at Hesley. Be prepared that your boundaries will be tested in differenet ways. You will be offended or ignored. If you confront it, manager will gaslight you in a second.
Pros
Just an admin job as advertised - no customer service
Cons
Management!

Toxic
Support Worker (Former Employee) - Barnsley, South Yorkshire - 19 June 2023
Please avoid. The culture is toxic. Management are clicky and the only way you will advance is if your face fits. Please do your research about this company. The company will dismiss you if your face doesn’t fit destroying your career potential.
Pros
Good wages
Cons
Toxic environment

Avoid
Support Worker (Former Employee) - Doncaster, South Yorkshire - 17 April 2023
Higher management were fab, very supportive. Cannot say the same for fellow colleagues who would leave you to deal with behaviour challenges alone. I left with PTSD from the violence encountered which I had to deal with alone.

A good 11 years thoroughly enjoyed my time here
Qualified Support Worker (Former Employee) - Wombwell, South Yorkshire - 30 March 2023
I worked at Low Laithes for 11 years. There was an awesome vibe of support from your fellow colleagues and management especially in times when crisis situations happened. Very good training with full pay. I have a disability and was supported via extra training and time to write notes. Do not go into this job if you are the kind of person who is not energetic and enthusiastic about care as individuals with autism will sense that and you will be a hinderance to the team you need to work and put that effort in. Managers extremelly supportive. I’ve recently applied to go back after leaving after having my third baby 😨 But am withdrawing my application as I’ve managed to progress into a support role in a prison. This kind of work can prepare you for progression if you do your job properly keep your records hand any important information over after your shift making sure monies and medications are signed journals filled and care plans filled in cleaning done etc. you will learn skills that will stay with you for life. I appreciate my 11 years at Hesley it has been my longest job and I thank the management team at Low Laithes for the glowing reference that they provided me with. I will consider applying for management position in the future once I’ve had a few more work experiences as you do need to be assertive with people in general if you want to progress to management here. I did apply while I was there but didn’t get it for that reason. See you soon Hesley Group miss you.
Pros
Free and paid training
Cons
Some staff create cliques …. Avoid these and just do your job
