It’s a great place to work. The best job I’ve ever had. The people and place are the best.

Hitachi is a great company to work for. Great benefits and given support whenever you need it. BUPA healthcare and a yearly pay rise and bonus. I love working there.

Great place to work

Great place to work but management are a bit clueless which in turn lets the whole company down. Enjoyable place to work and it was great working with people from all walks of life.good shift pattern good salary. But the job insecurity is why I wouldn’t go back.

Pros

Great place to work

Cons

Bad management

Nit what it said on the tin

Thought that this was going to be a very long term job, given that it was a new factory, and given the hitachi name.Never had any parts to fit to trains, which would put you behind and would then have to chase back. Lots of staff not suitable for the roles given out. Didnt really need experience in manufacturing and that really showed when it came to an end product, poor quality.Lots of bullying going on at the place. It seemed they employed as many idiots as they could.Working with materials which where damaging to health. Lots of people with skin complaints.Management are completely clueless, a couple of decent managers who just dont have the experience. Never know anything about future contracts. The company would rather try and look the bollox on the local news rather than communicate with staff about what's really going on. When I left I said I would be surprised if that place is still going in a few years time. Seems they have very little work coming in so I thinks it will be lights out next year or two.

Pros

Decent break times

Cons

Management.

Bad management / low morale

Good work when it’s there, extremely poorly managed, from the section leaders up to senior management. They really don’t have a clue what they’re doing. Lack of communication and Stuck in the mindset that they are too superior to listen to the people beneath them. If your good at getting away with doing next to nothing and / or a bum licker, this is the place for you.

Pros

Pension / healthcare

Cons

Management / bad decisions / no communication

Managment are terrible.

Great job, but terrible management making decisions to suit themselves rather than the company have ran that place into the ground. Had potential to be something amazing.

Productive & Fun Rotating shifts 5/4/5 days and nights. Learn how to maintain Diesel/Electric Multiple Units. Strong health & Safety workplace ethic.

Hitachi not a dream job

Poor management, treat like a dog and nepotism wide spread. Empty order books due to incompetent bidding. Most workers are now paid off from this site sadly would be very surprised if the place is still open next year

Productive

Busy fast pace typical day, adjusting to new challenges everyday, prioritise work loads and balancing work force competencies to enable timely and efficient completion of KPI targets.

Work life balances

I loved my job here. Very hands on ! Good pay, good hours. 80% of people are sound but there is always a decent amount of ignorant morons every where you go. Management are the most incompetent bunch of ex military idiots ever known. It is a manufacturing facility not an army barracks. Section leaders and some speciallists are very clicky and bot licky. Made an absolute catastrophe of the recent redundancy situation due to the total lack of management in previous years, meaning very unskilled workers were made out, on paper to be very competent when in fact they weren't. Getting high Mark's for skills and abilities when they couldn't cut a straight line with a hacksaw. HR is run by a bunch of little girls with fake tan on their ankles and on the back of their hands and will stick to company policies and not guidelines. Bradford points, warnings, unfair treatment is very often dished out to team members. If you turn up, on time, dont have time off, dont have an operation, dont take drugs, behave yourself then its decent workplace that pays well as long as you can bite your tounge at the incompetent higher management.

Hard work but rewarding!

Interesting place to work. The staff are amazing particularly when the world is falling down around your ears...Work life balance needs some balance though as it is 24/7 and not everyone works set shifts.

Very good

Hitachi is a friendly place to work I've never had any problems here and relevant training is always given on various sops the company thrives on a good health and safety policy

Safety driven, quailty assured and easy to work

Badge into the building, listen to morning brief, get assigned jobs/work. Gather tools, SOP and any items required to complete the job, badge onto the required job via SAP screen. Follow the SOP although if adjustments need making inform specialist or section leader. Complete the work in the recommended time. Management are a little bit unidirectional, in terms of wanting things their way, not much care in terms of the workers more about what they can receive.

New challenges with new trains.

Good company to work for. New trains so new challenges. Never worked on trains before starting at Hitachi. Young management team. Good salary. Plenty of courses to improve my knowledge.

Pros

Nice bonus yearly.

Cons

Not enough work to keep temporary staff.

Hitachi is a fantastic company to work for offering all the training required and very good wage and benefits structure makes it a very good company.

Work at hitachi is interesting, challenging and very rewarding when the job is completed. There is loads of opportunities to better your skills. I'm proud to say I'm an employee of Hitachi and would reccomend to anyone interested in joining the company.
