What is the best part of working at the company?The money is about the only reason to work for the prison service. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?The management are almost universally useless. There is a culture of bullying prevalent in the upper management unfortunately this comes right from the top. Avoid at all costs. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Absolutely appalling. You are just a number on the payroll. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Think of the worst day at work multiply by 10 then you're there. Insufficient staff, dangerous manning levels and clueless, inexperienced management, a truly toxic cocktail.

its what you make of it, prison life once you get in to it is easy its the boredom and seeing and hearing things you should never hear!!. my advise to you is, put as much effort in to doing something legal and stop thinking about the next crime and how long it will get you if and when you get caught!. use the time wisely and come out fresh and ready to take on the outside world

Worked as Gym Orderly which gave me access to Stop Smoking programme, First Aid, Manual Handling and Food Cretification qualifications as well as Level 2 Gym Instructor as well as design work used throughout Prison system for smoking cessation

High workloads, Not enough benefits

Initially seemed like a good place to work but the incredibly high workloads, pressure, long hours and expectation to do more than what is asked, WILL put a strain on your mental health. What management and upper senior management prioritise isn't always clear and the people that do the bulk of everyday work are feeling like they aren't doing enough.
