challenging
stressful environment but if you find a good bunch of colleagues, its still a great job. I only left for a payrise. The job can be dangerous but find a good mentor and you will be fine and also, learn to say no to prisoners and dont be afraid to go where angels fear to tread
Pros
free gym
Cons
long hours

Work experience
This is not a place for heart fainted people. Before you consider this job make sure you are capable to understand and accept the risks. It involves physical, mental and moral abuses from the residents. There are only 2 people/PCO's per wing with a population from 60 to 82. This is also a non smoking facility. Long hours, a lot of noise and many responsibilities. Good income and benefits from the company, like cantine and different discounts
Pros
Income
Cons
A lot of stress, abuse/assaults, long hours, management

Overall a good place to work
Progression is slow but pay and overtime is above average, good job security and the staff are great but the working environment can be very stressful at times.
