Good afternoon,Many thanks for taking the time to provide us with some important feedback. We are of course always concerned when a member of our team does not have a positive experience. We would always encourage anyone who does have concerns to report these to either their Line Manager/Operations Manager or the People Team. Holroyd Howe as soon as we are aware of any issues would manage these situations using the appropriate internal process and ensure a thorough investigation takes place. Any concerns that are raised are always investigated and managed to a conclusion. Therefore, I would encourage you to contact me at hr@holroydhowe.com and provide me with a number/email address and I will arrange for someone from our People Team to make contact to discuss your concerns in more detail.Kindest RegardsThe People Team

HR and Payroll department a total disaster

I should have a been a chef within the company but, instead, I was more like a general assistant. 80% of my duties were mostly focused to help on general tasks rather than cooking or paperwork stuff. The biggest issue in my experience has been to deal with Holroyd Howe HR and Payroll departments: very difficult to get in touch over the phone ( let's say impossible). They don't sort out important enquiries in a reasonable time or they messed up. Don't bother to contact them on Fridays cause they all work from home and if you need some urgent help it's completely pointless.

Pros

Average hours

Cons

Too many to mention

Dreadful job

Take my advice and STEER CLEAR. The job was dreadful, hard, dirty, and most of all completely draining. No one liked working there except the bakery chef, and even she was miserable.

Cons

Everything

Bad place to work

Within a week of my starting at Holroyd Howe four established colleagues had already handed in their notice. All the promises I was told during my interview were quickly forgotten. You are constantly reminded how you are on the bottom rung of the ladder and deemed worthless. Management, and there are a of a lot of them, love to lord it about to the point where nobody knows who is in charge of whom. There is a lot of training to done online, hours of it, you will initially be told this will be done during working hours, this is a lie, nobody got to do it during working hours, everyone had to complete it at home and to a deadline, if it wasn't completed you got a threatening email promising further action. The food is lovely looking but out of date stock is still used, leftovers from earlier sittings are recycled.Staff are constantly stressed because of the demands put on them, overtime is expected rather than requested and weekend functions are compulsory even though they are not included in your hours. These are covered by basic pay level, not even overtime.Avoid working with these people

Pros

Free lunches

Cons

Everything else

Stress and understaffed

Very busy days, mainly 12-9 shifts, lots of weekends. No staff as lots leave and change, and takes about 3 months before a new starter can start as DBS and interviews take forever.

Wouldn’t recommend

Haven’t had a good experience working with Holroyd Howe.Shifts are extremely understaffed yet management don’t care nor do anything about it. End up working ridiculously hard and then going over time which is not guar to be paid for.Chasing up incorrect pay is an absolute nightmare. So worried about what the students think yet don’t care one bit about their staff in lower positions to themselves.

Don’t go there.

I’ve worked in catering for a lot of my life & this by far tops it. The overall management are just a joke, there’s no guidance what so ever. Fearful of the more ‘loudmouted’ workers, no discipline or boundaries.People allowed to just do what they want when they want, speak to you like trash.Expect a lot of you within a short frame of time.

Very bad.

What is the best part of working at the company? This company has no working culture. They use their workers as slaves. They fill the companies they work for with lies, promising things they can't keep. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Working double hours due to lack of staff and not getting paid for the extra hours. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Like I said they don't have any culture. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Work as an animal and after that nobody said at least thanks to you.

supportive

A very collaborative environment where everyone chipped in and got their hands dirty. There was a large emphasis placed on ensuring everyone was well trained and safe which makes you feel valued and cared about as an employee.

There Great!

It has been great working for Holroyd Howe!I can honestly say that the senior management has been very supportive and engaged. They do care and have great training, both in house and enrollment on apprenticeships. Food is freshly cooked each day!

Don’t work

Not good company no bonus no appreciationWork for nothing , they care more about the company then the staff , less staff more stress poor management and poor food quality

Disappointed

I worked for the company for just short of two years, I expressed to learn book work and to develop within the company, I helped out on many occasions when short staffed and stepped up when senior personnel were absent, but the communication disappeared, no involvement with menu planning, no communication with up coming events and stopped from cooking, just ended being a prep chef / washer up.I felt let down and demoralised, so felt I had to leave for my mental health. When I handed in my notice, didn’t seem interested, never informed the client,

Pros

Reasonable salary

Cons

No communication, no career progression, no support ( in the final months) ……..

Great place to work

Really love working for Holroyd Howe, not only is it a company that grows and invests in talent but it is a company that cares. Although there are challenges in the industry you feel supported by the wider network.

Bullying work culture

What is the best part of working at the company? The long holidays at term timeWhat is the most stressful part about working at the company? The bullying and the acceptance from middle and higher management What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Both were severely lacking not a good company to work for. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Long and stressful made worse by a small group of low vibrational staff members.

Low staff

Budgets are always tight and low on staff. Pay is not fair as every location gets paid differently and not fair on the work load done. Online training is to MUCH with the company sending training nearly every month which sometimes the subjects are pointless and you are expected to do it at YOUR OWN TIME!

Pros

Lunch, and holidays

Cons

Over worked and low staff

Appalling

Used to be a fantastic company to work for but changes at the top have ruined the ethos of the company. Senior team only interested in advancing their careers

Pros

Reasonable salary

Cons

Loyalty only works one way

Lovely people, terrible managment

I love working with my colleagues but the guys at the big table have no interest in what we do in the front line. All they care about is reports and make us feel inferior

Professional team and very good training

I have loved working for this Company. My first time in hospitality. I thought the online training was great. I could choose the hours I worked and we had discounts and the food was phenomenal. Such professionalism. I have learnt so much and feel part of a team. I love seeing all the food service ideas on instagram. I am a great believer in eating well presented healthy food.

Pros

Free food, excellent trading so you feel confident

Cons

Can be tiring work
