Excellent office staff support
Senior Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Chelford - 25 February 2023
Featured review
Home Instead selected this as a representative reviewHomeinstead is a very flexible, caring and adaptable place to work, office staff are really good at listening to Carers needs in terms of work life balance, and giving overtime, cannot praise the team enough they bend over backwards to keep their Carers happy with rotas and clients, if all firms listened to their workforce like Homeinstead there would not be understaffing in the world of care. Good rates of pay, so glad i applied to this company.
Pros
Excellent scheduling and work life balance
Cons
None that i can think of

No work, bonus and dbs money back even after date stated, still awaiting care certificate even though I already have them.
Professional care assistant (Current Employee) - Cleveland, North Yorkshire - 2 November 2023
Clients are lovely and always grateful for all care and support but, this is where it stop. Clients can't believe how much they're charged compared to what wage we get, travel allowance is pennies but actually cost more than wage earnt in a hour. There is no continuity with shifts, and on top of that! you sign a contract with the understanding that after the 12 week probation period, where your guaranteed your care certificate, you get other benefits like pensions bonus dbs money back. Well sorry that still hasn't happened. I been working in Cleveland site, everyone who I trained with have all left apart from myself. The only reason I'm still there is to get what I'm owed, then I'll be looking for a really job where your recognised for your work.
Pros
Can't think of any
Cons
everything listed above, and more

Jobs at Home Instead
Great place to work doing something worthwhile!
Key Player (Current Employee) - Norfolk - 20 October 2023
Really supportive team where everyone from Clients to Care Professionals and Key Players are valued. People are encouraged to achieve their personal and professional goals whether that’s clients who wish to stay living well and independently in their own homes, or Care Professionals wanting flexibility of hours or professional development. It can be very busy, but no two days are the same and there’s always someone on hand to help raise a smile or laugh.
Pros
Supportive environment and strong values
Cons
Can be busy

I was employed as a senior Caregiver. Given opportunity to grow.
Registered Manager (Current Employee) - Hexham, Northumberland - 11 October 2023
Good engagement with staff and clients. I make the effort to see at least one of our clients in a daily basis during working hours. Home Instead have good values and will spend a minimum of 1 hour with each client.

Busy, fun, stressful, unappreciated, lack of support.
N/A (Former Employee) - Godalming, Surrey - 27 September 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The job itself, my role was varied and lovely. I loved the industry. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The owners and expectations. You are asked to do a lot of work for no recognition, appreciation or monetary compensation. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Not great, the owners care about money only and have no empathy and compassion for their staff. (Franchise Godalming and Guildford and Woking).

First step in to Care Industry
Carer (Former Employee) - Stockport, Greater Manchester - 24 August 2023
I worked for H.I. for over a year and found it a great company to begin my journey in to the care Industry. Their induction and training programme was exceptional. The clients were lovely and I was always shadowing a very experienced member of the team to shpw me the ropes, before ever going in alone. Obtain lots of qualifications and could do the days and hours that fitted in with my family.
Pros
Fantastic trainer/training and induction programmr
Cons
Not guaranteed contracted hours - just on zero hours. Therefore, very unpredictable salary each month.

No security with guaranteed work hours
Care Worker (Former Employee) - Durham - 20 August 2023
Clients lovely, office supportive but not enough consistency or security with working hours. Hours can fluctuate week to week with long gaps between calls, meaning alot of waiting around until your next call.

Feel of family
Office staff (Current Employee) - Yeovil - 17 August 2023
Working for Home Instead has been huge learning curve as stepped into a brand new role. Although it is a really busy and fast paced environment, I never felt stranded and have always someone to turn to for advice and support.
Pros
Great pay, supportive team, employee benefits and support schemes
Cons
No hybrid working

Fun and rewarding work place
Care Assistant (Current Employee) - West Dunbartonshire - 6 July 2023
Home instead is very good to work for, management is great and all there for support or anything you need, it's very flexible the work, but only down side is you not guaranteed hours as 0 hour contract. The in house training is very great aswell. And it's a very rewarding job.
Pros
Great management
Cons
0 hour contracts, not enough hours

Ok at first
Caregiver (Former Employee) - Nottingham - 29 June 2023
Initially it was a nice place to work and well paid job. As time went on pay was less, mileage less despite having to drive 30 minutes to just one client plus no paid travel time. Often large gaps on rota as well. They seem to promise the world and fail to deliver.

Amazing !
Key player (Current Employee) - Cannock - 21 June 2023
Home instead Cannock is an incredible company to work for! From extra home instead benefits, a brilliant work/life balance, access to early pay, and non stop support from management! I couldn’t recommend home instead Cannock more! The whole ethos of the company is totally different to other companies, making for a both happy clients and care professionals! If you’re thinking of applying, I’d definitely say go for it!
Pros
Brilliant work life balance and support.

Overall review
Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Kidderminster, Worcestershire - 9 June 2023
Working with Homeinstead, I have learnt so much more in the little time I’ve worked with them so far, than the 5 months of care experience I had prior to working here. All office staff and Care Pro’s are amazing and everyone treats you with respect. I can talk to them about any concerns I have and their response to them is brilliant. I have never felt so secure and appreciated in a work place before. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to work with a company that aids you through any rough times and that praise you through your highlights. I will always enjoy working with Homeinstead.
Pros
Good pay
Cons
Cant think of any

Toxic and very top down management
Anonymous (Former Employee) - Stanmore - 3 June 2023
Management attitude absolutely stinks, they know how to cheat the system to get the best clients and the pay for caregivers is shocking compared to the amount of money they charge clients. I would never recommend anyone to work here
Cons
Low pay, awful management

Official response from Home Instead
13 June 2023Thank you for your review of this Home Instead franchise office. We’re sorry to hear your employment with this office was not as positive as we would like. If you would like to provide more details about your experience with this office, please feel free to contact Toni Engelbart/Tim Mudgett, Brand Advocate and Ombudsman, at 888-484-5759.
Bad management
Full-Time Caregiver (Former Employee) - Hemel Hempstead - 3 June 2023
Unsupportive managers, and clearly only care about making money. Do not care about the client's welfare or the staff working for them. No concerns raised are ever taken seriously and no action taken.
Pros
Flexible hours
Cons
Contracts don't exist

Inconsistent hours
Carer (Former Employee) - Warwickshire - 23 May 2023
Staff friendly but hours would change from month to month no contracted hours one month you could get 60hrs next 160hrs, very clicky so certain people get the hours all the time

Long hours pay got better before I left
Domiciliary Care Worker (Former Employee) - North Wales - 18 May 2023
Good way to start off working in care. Training not great and they have so many unnecessary rules and regulations.Petrol only paid after 16 miles so some days you got very little or nothing

Lovely clients
Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Frodsham, Cheshire - 8 May 2023
I loved my job with homeinstead, the general communication needs work but lovely staff. Changing shifts last minute and splits shifts were hard to work round with a family but it depends what you are willing to sacrifice. Wages were good hourly but gaps in rota and although you get paid mileage for travel you dont get paid actually travel time so you could be out if the house for 6 hours and only get paid for 4, yes you could nip home but it depends where you cover.
