Inclusive and great place to work

Featured review

HomeServe UK selected this as a representative review
I have worked for Homeserve for nearly 5 years now and I love working for Homeserve. I started out in the call centre and worked my way up in the company by moving into HR and now into Payroll. There is so much room for progression if you put yourself out there to do this by asking for a mentor or shadowing different business areas. Each manager I have had has been very supportive with my roles and I am now onto my second apprenticeship which Homeserve have supported me through. The culture at Homeserve is brilliant and has always had a family feel for me personally and hope to have a long and successful career here.

Good individuals

Good company that genuinely seemed to care about your well being. Pay was decent as were the benefits. It was a stressful place to work at times. Within the department I worked in, senior management could have done better.

New Starter

Haven't been at Homerve long, very busy workplace with strict time management. KPIs can be stressful but that's pretty standard to the industry. Met some great people so far, although management can be a little disorganised at times and interdepartmental communication needs some major improvements. Overall though not a bad place to work with plenty of opportunities for movement in roles within the company.

Draining place to work

This company will drain your life away, avoid if you have a family because the hours are very unsociable. You will spend the majority of your time driving job to job, there is no logic to the planning.Management only look out for their best interests and only raise issues when it concerns them.Avoid

Pros

4 day weeks in summer

Cons

Long hours & Stress

Unsupportive ,alot of people leave

Not stop repetitive work , boring , every second is scrutinised, 3 min toilet break , when it takes you 3 mins to get there ! everyone is constantly been analysed and criticised, so many people leave its unreal , the talk alot but takes months to actually take action ! To many processes and higher management making alot of money , encouraged to speak up about issues but then no action , unsupportive of disabilities, as I've seen this with members of staff, must be very careful about having time off as they say they will support you but then you will end up with a written warning even , many staff a suffering from stress and many end up been off , never enough staff so alot of upset customers ,constant recruitment , as so many people leave the company, no one knows what anyone else is doing and they use multiple systems so you can't advise as you won't know !

Pros

Sometimes free fruit or biscuits

Cons

Short breaks, no support, inhuman, expert you to work like a robot, constant criticism for every staff member

To much pressure and travelling

Expect you do do job without the right times on job, and distance of travelling, and procedures are shocking, always on the phone chasing office planners and parts team treat you like muck, KPI is always on the topic, can’t do with hearing about it , continue emails about it, long working day and forced on to overtime 3 times a week

Pros

Summer short hours

Cons

Expected to work overtime, long hour per day

Busy and poor work life balance

Busy place to work a lot of work to do but constantly getting nagged for you to do more, managers and office constantly ringing you asking where you are.

Awful Company with a incredibly subpar management team.

Tedious systems, repetitive workload, mentally draining and seriously lacking in any real benefits or incentives for employees. The staff turnover is extremely high, mostly due to their training structure failures, asinine managers who get rid of people who may outshine them or due to poor working conditions and unrealistic expectations. Consistently pointless meetings that achieve nothing and you constantly feel like you are walking on eggshells around some very fragile egos, who you are told, on day 1, can make your life difficult, such as refusing holiday etc. Until you complete your 6 month probation you're made to feel "under the guillotine", it's stressful and damages morale.Customers, the majority who are very elderly, are simply treated like fodder in the machine and absolutely no real or impactful assistance is offered to them without going from pillar to post. Worst company I have worked for in a long time.

Pros

Food trucks, once in a while and the odd customer who is lovely to chat to.

Cons

Everything except for the food trucks.

Fun place to work

Good place to work the managers are very friendly and great to get along with. The job however can be a little stressful as it’s call after call but you get used to it.

Good

Good place to work. If you are experienced in maintenance plumbing work this would suit but be prepared to travel and work long hours. Also on call at times

fun place to work

good pay, motivating its the people that really make the place as good as i describe. There are some areas of improvement where fingers crossed surveys conducted can get the issues raised but in time we will be able to tell

It’s just okay

Not enough pay for what you deal with. You’re getting yelled at by customers a lot. Targets are hard to meet. A lot of people quit because of what’s expected of them. All they care about it numbers. No matter how good you do it’s still not good enough. You start that job thinking it’s amazing. People usually quit before probation even ends. Used to be amazing place to work, now people are leaving after being there over 5 years. Ridiculous a sense policy. Pay is not good but befits are decent and a generous amount of holiday if you can ever get available time off.

Pros

Coworkers

Cons

Pay, expectations, management

A target driven environment

This company is brilliant for someone who is target driven and likes repetitiveness. The first initial couple of months are brilliant and the colleagues DEFINITELY make the job. Please be aware you are not just a “call agent/claims advisor” you have to become so much more then that as majority of the time you’re fixing problems to stop them escalating into complaints. However, management only care about hitting targets/statistics. No appreciation for staff unless you are in their “favourites circle”. I was signed off sick following an extremely difficult time with my MH which actually left me nearly fighting for my life in hospital. Two days later I was getting HARRASSED more or less every hour of the day by my manager into when I would be coming back to work. If it wasn’t texts, it was phone calls or emails bearing in mind I wasn’t well at all. I do NOT recommend working here if you want to keep a good stable mental health.

Pros

People, food, always something going on

Cons

Long hours, management don’t care, no social life, lack of appreciation

Not a nice place.

Poor management If your face fits culture or your friends with the directors. Employee surveys are fixed and if a good score isn’t achieved then employees don’t get their bonus.

Some fab managers and great place to work. To start with had alot of training regarding policies but offered good shifts, flexibility and support. Location was good but parking not the best

OK place to work

Good company but needs to improve its planning system for engineers. Hard to order parts and your day was so unorganised you spent most your time calling office to explain they was sending you 50 miles away for one Job and you still have 5 on your pda
