Few good days but mostly bad
After working at the airport for many years I got made redundant due to the Covid 19 outbreak. Everything started really well, got on great with all the lads and the management was very welcoming. I picked up the job really quick and everything seemed to be going great but then everything took a 180 degree turn, suddenly management change and blokes dropping like flies it took a U turn. I was trained up by a experienced T6 so I was very confident of the job and one of the first jobs I went out to with someone else who was also a experienced T5 I had to show him how to do the job, that just shows the standard of work coming out of the hooke highways somerset depot. I was bullied on a daily basis for my appearance with staff from the office also finding it hilarious even after me talking to them about how it is knocking my confidence. I was told very early on that I was a natural at the job and I would soon be boosted through to the supervisor role after just 6 months of service but that was a lie just to keep me in the job as I also found out other guys had also been promised the same thing for years.I really was one of their best but I lost my final straw. It wasn’t all bad their was good days too but they didn’t come around very often but one advantage I can take out of working at hooke highways is I have met a friend for life in my fellow Liverpool supporting buddy

Awful place to work management couldn’t give a toss about you the only plus side is the blokes in the yard are a good laugh but other than pretty poor the office staff couldn’t really care less about you as long as they finish on time stupidly long hours for bare minimum pay I really wouldn’t treat a dog the way the treat people the blokes that actually do the job are great tbf but that is the only upside to working for this firm my advise to anyone wanting a job in traffic Management is go work for forest or chevron and don’t even give this tin pot company the time of day

Worst Traffic management company
After working for Hookehighways for a substantial amount of time I have witnessed the downfall in this company. Long hours (minimum of 15 hour days)Poor communication Vehicles never get fixedHassled to work every weekend Shocking pay ratesA bonus that you never getSent out to jobs with the wrong equipment Not told your job till 5pm the day beforeCharge you for your tickets Charge for van damage and excess if insurance is used.Favourite lads will get all the good jobs, to become a favourite you have to cover all the over time and any on call, no matter what time of night. The lads get no appreciation for any extra help and walked over by the powers aboveSlim to no chance of progression You are always expected to be out the van in full ppe. Hard hat, goggles chest cam. Can not be on your phone. Stop and go can be 0700-1900 and you wont able to leave site even for the toilet

good place to get on and progress
Came in as a trainee , and with the support I’m getting from my depot Manager and more experienced guys , really picking up things and already booked in for my M1 & M2 , really want to push on and want to get more experience and tickets after .. It’s hard work , but for me , if you show a good attitude you are recognised and looked after with good pay and chances to progress .. really good company to work for , and the lads in our depot are a really good bunch

Great teamwork
The industry may be hard but the teamwork is impeccable! As long as communication is expressed there is no need to feel understood or undervalued. Lots of positive changes happening which look like they will be for the better and will give job security.
