Difficult environment
The group as a whole does offer great benefits and competitive salaries however the workplace culture is dire. The structure is extremely top-heavy and the large majority of management follow bullyish tactics. Despite a recent staff survey very little has been done to rectify this issue and unbelievably it has become more prominent over the last few months. If your face doesn't fit, you'll know about it and HR will do very little to resolve the issue. The current staff turnover should be more than enough to encourage people to stay away. Great company, shame about the managers
Company ethos seems great, pay is ok. Unfortunately there are some rude, micromanaging, control freaks in charge of certain areas, who like to dictate and rarely listen or recognise that others may have valid points to contribute. Retirement living officer in Shrewsbury, Shropshire

Not for me
Terrible culture at this company, outside of my immediate team everyone was only out for themselves, but I suppose this is to be expected as it is a large company. Struggled to get anything actually done due to amount of red tape and paperwork and easier for upper management to just say NO Employees from before the takeover clash with those from after. Minimal support, poor trainingCustomer Care Advisor in Stafford

Understaffed salary is poor unsociable hours Can’t book holidays due to staff shortage
Colleagues are great and make work a lot better. Has the potential to be so but the management need to sort out the working conditions to make it goodRetirement Living Manager in South Staffs

Lovely, Supportive Company
Good opportunities for progression, HPG really invest in their staff. Inductions are thorough, colleagues and management are supportive. I haven't seen the bullying culture mentioned in others' reviews and just don't think it reflects the company at all in my experience. A genuinely caring company that I hope to be with for a long time. What would you say about your employer?
