Supervisor (Former Employee) - Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh - 29 May 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIt’s been the most lovely job I had, the people who was working in the coffee shop (burr and co) becomes my friend. Unfortunately after covid we are been all redundant, and this is the most bad part of working there.

Avoid
Front of House Receptionist (Former Employee) - Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh - 21 March 2023
Worked for this company a few months. Management not helping in any cases, employees ashamed for being sick and colleagues acting as bullies in highschool.

Stressful, toxic, over worked
Project Manager (Former Employee) - Denham - 12 March 2023
Following an unimpressive yet positive interview process, was practically ignored on joining. Zero inclusivity was exercised. Use all the usual buzz words to tick boxes, mental health, inclusivity, diversity, yet in reality quite the opposite.
Pros
Free on site parking, mental health days
Cons
Over loaded work, long hours, not enough collaborative work amongst certain peer groups

Horrible Experience
The point is that for a year they managed to exploit me in the true sense of the word with a salary that is never equal to the hours worked! Pure exploitation. The management is run by wise guys who don't treat others for their skills and competences. You are just a number.

Okay place to work
Bartender (Former Employee) - Cardiff, Cardiff - 11 January 2023
An alright place to work. Can get stressful at times as you’re mostly working alone. Upper management/HR could do with some improvement however it’s pretty much the same with big cooperations

Poor management
Unhealthy management culture and needs a restructure it could be a great place to work if the atmosphere was not so toxic, unapproachable and hostile. The staff deserve better for the amount they give!
Pros

Possibilità di crescita
Hotel front desk supervisor (Former Employee) - Greater London - 22 November 2022
I manager tutti amici!

Great brand to be a part of!
Operations Manager (Current Employee) - Denham, Buckinghamshire - 1 September 2022
voco hotels is a great brand to be a part of! The brand represents an unstuffy, thoughtful and charming nature. It cares about its people and there are opportunities to grow and develop your career if you want to!

A hellish place to work.
Barista (Former Employee) - Edinburgh City, City of Edinburgh - 23 July 2022
The only positive thing I can say about being a barista at IHG Edinburgh was that the pay was good and most of the team are lovely, other than that my experience was terrible. To start the coffee shop is always last on the priority list when it comes to care from management, therefore it was always left understaffed, understocked and often completely closed for no reason other than they needed extra staff elsewhere, so only apply for this job if you are happy to feel unappreciated, undervalued and not cared for. Also anytime I brought up my feelings about this to my supervisor it was met with criticisms of my work, being told that the problems stemmed from me and my colleagues “not working hard enough”. I never once heard any positive feedback about my work, even though it often felt I was leading the team as the supervisor was pretty much always elsewhere, my colleagues and I were almost exclusively negatively and condescendingly criticised and our ideas for the coffee shop ignored. I also tried to seek out opportunity to learn and grow by speaking to the manager about wanting to learn more about a supervisor position as I felt like I was qualified and would do a great job, however this was also ignored. I would absolutely not recommend this job to anyone, in my entire working life I’ve never worked somewhere ran so poorly with such little care, effort or support from supervisors and managers. When I first started I was enthusiastic, willing to learn and overall happy to be there and 9 months later I was extremely stressed, frustrated and hated being there.
Pros
Wages, friendly staff
Cons
Lack of support from management, no opportunity for growth, long hours, extremely stressful, unprofessional supervisor

Great staff shame about the serious lack of management
Kitchen Manager (Former Employee) - Ipswich - 30 May 2022
As above the staff are great, and work incredibly hard, it's a real shame they are terribly over worked due to poor higher management, I worked at one of the few sites that has an onsite area manager and a hotel manager neither of which were actually interested in making any improvements, 200 plus people in house and you'll be lucky if they let you have 1 chef and a potwash in the kitchen,

Fast paced workplace
Food and Beverage Assistant (Former Employee) - Cardiff - 17 April 2022
Nice place to work in terms of the other staff members (staff and chefs as well as the main manager) however some higher members of staff were very rude and shouted at staff members in front of customers. One in particular that made me not want to come to work when I knew she’d be in. One day shouted at me for a table that had dishes on it for 30 minutes when I was 10 minutes into my shift and has been very busy the whole time. They need to work on the rota being sent out as there were times we didn’t get till Sunday night for the week so you couldn’t plan any sort of social life.

Like many places,Just a number
Crew Member (Former Employee) - Glasgow - 5 March 2022
Management do not listen to staff and talk over you when having a work related discussion and very standoffish especially office staff. Good points, very few, however most staff are friendly. Not worried giving my initials as no longer work there. CS.
