Long hours ok money.
Production Opertive (Current Employee) - Newcastle-under-Lyme - 27 January 2022
Long hours, poor working conditions with ancient machinery. No room for progression or wage increases. Fitters pretty much run the place and don't do a lot of work.
Pros
Half decent money
Cons
Long hours, poor management. Poor working conditions.

Insights into Ibstock Brick
Areas for improvement
- Inclusive work environment
- Energising work tasks
- Trust in colleagues
Not recommend to anyone
Mainplant (Current Employee) - Ibstock cattybrook - 11 January 2022
Terrible place for work and salary. No. Matter how long, hard you work your salary is same. Every year expectation are more and more, but we as a employee get nothing for that.

Nice people to work with however working conditions and number of hours at work throwing negative look on this company.
Production Operative (Former Employee) - Ibstock - 29 December 2021
Hard to get good life balance due to cover days ( an extra 26 shifts) and shift rotation - 5in 4off 5in 5off 4in 5off and again from beginning. Job for people who are likely to be at work all the time. Completely lack of self development ( except vehicle licences). You are paid the same rate don't matter you are working on department with minimum skills needed or most advanced jobs. Prepare for very, very low temperatures in the winter, very very high in the summer
Pros
Team.
Cons
Additional 26 cover day to work in annual calendar, shift pattern, lack of development, flat rate to all departments no matter how difficult and skill needed job is.

Good lads to work with in maintenance department, maintenance management were awful though, no management skills or experience between them.
Maintenance Electrician (Former Employee) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire - 20 April 2020
Don’t do it unless you are looking to get treated like rubbish. The place is full of lies, false promises and bad management on the maintenance side. All the normal staff were great lads but the management were awful.

Jobs at Ibstock Brick
Un-organised
Mechanical Fitter (Current Employee) - Leicestershire - 3 February 2020
Not very organized with anything, pay, scheduling and other aspects. I was chosen to be paid less than other new starters, but believe I brought more to the table than some.
Pros
Paid breaks and 5 days off after 5 on.
Cons
Long Hours

At your peril
Maintenance Engineer (Former Employee) - Aldridge, West Midlands - 28 December 2019
If your face doesn't fit or you speak your mind then they will use underhanded tricks to get you out so you dont upset there apple cart. Lots of theft that management cover up and turn a blind eye to. Raise your concerns and they close ranks. Plants falling to bits and zero investment. Operators undertrained and ignorant in there inability to accept there limits then covered up by production manager when serious problems arise and blame shifted onto maintenance. Lots of back biting and stabbing usually started by the production managers(its a family thing) H&S is a joke,as and when it suits. Group never hear about half the things that go on as its covered up and swept under the carpet. It's a real shame that the very few decent guys there that care about the product have to continue to put up with it.

Fast paced factory environment
Technical Assistant (Former Employee) - Ibstock/Ellistown - 17 December 2019
Hard work is rewarded, good rates of pay. Plenty of overtime with good overtime pay. A good selection of courses for the right people who show they are willing to learn.

Stressful
Engineering (Current Employee) - Midland - 25 November 2019
Although the company is going through major change the poisonous culture still exists on the Factory floor who resist any change. There are ample opportunities to progress.

Ok place to work
Cleaner (Former Employee) - Ibstock, Leicestershire - 7 November 2019
the wage at Ibstock brick was very good, although it was very unorganised quite a lot of the time. There was a lot to do in a short space of 2 hours. Overall I would say it’s an ok place to work

Good people, enjoyable work, poor management and incorrect wages.
Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Current Employee) - Laybrook - 20 September 2019
The people that work on the shop floor are brilliant and hard working. The job itself is enjoyable. However there has been no stable management since I have worked there and with each new set of management the respect for the hard working people seems to get lower. The money is not up to par for the skills required to do the job and the dangers involved with the work.

Lovely small team
Sales Co-ordinator (Former Employee) - Ibstock, Leicestershire - 24 November 2017
You are never of the phones and this can create difficulty in completing work that requires attention.
You therefore need to be able to prioritise and work long hours just to keep up with the workflow.
Pros
Small Team
Cons
On the job training

Expanding areas and change or managers
Account Manager (Former Employee) - North West - 5 July 2016
Area over doubled within 2 months of starting the role and not given much choice but to take it (even though 2 months was the total sum of experience in the role).
New managers wanted more paperwork than previously meaning every meeting notes had to be duplicated in different formats.
