Not a good company to work for.
shop assistant retail (Former Employee) - Melksham, Wiltshire - 7 June 2023
The management is on par with Spots Direct. Staff are not valued. Totally under staffed expectations impossible to deliver. No paid breaks. Only 7.5hour contracts .

- Ability to learn new things
- General feeling of work happiness
Fast paced at times
Cashier/Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Tooting, Greater London - 7 June 2023
Whilst this was years ago, nice place to work but it could be faced paced during the busy times. Friendly customers and staff were very helpful. Not much progression but as I said this was years ago.

Fun but can be stressful
Sales Assistant (Current Employee) - London East, Greater London - 6 June 2023
Fun place to work, managers help support progression and uplift mood throughout your shift. Can be quite stressful especially during busy times of the year.

Great, Fun & Memorable
Stock Assistant (Former Employee) - Chesterfield, Derbyshire - 2 June 2023
Working at Iceland can be hard at times but the people you meet along the way and work with became freinds for life for me. The pay was good, The hours were pretty flexible and the workload wasn’t ridiculous. Worst part would probably be the 8 hour contract, don’t know if thats still the case. Always chance for progression.

Fun work, Too many coasters. Abborant pay
Retail Assistant (Zero Hour) (Current Employee) - Taunton - 1 June 2023
I really like working hard. I'm from a Care background which is tough. It made a change to only be dependant on yourself to get the work done. I excelled. However there are too many coasters. They could streamline the business further. I would happily do what the coasters whine and complain about on a daily basis. You just don't get the hours you need. I've had to go on Universal Credit to make surey rent is paid. The money you get paid is diabolical and that's from someone with a Care background.
Pros
Managers leave early to go to the pub
Cons
This store is responsible for the obesity epidemic in England.

Pays the bills
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Essex - 31 May 2023
Stressful work, no clock in machine so extra hours you do are added on manually and have to keep asking to get them added. Little reward for hard work. Favouritism

Nice workplace
Deputy Manager (Former Employee) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire - 29 May 2023
Poor experience, worked as manager for 7 months, too many changeover dictated from the company are a waste of time making you and the team staying behind ; overtime and night hours not paid for managers, you get 38 hours contract but is 45 in reality as 7 hours break are not paid... You don't have time to have a break and some weeks I did 55 hours still paid for 38, also they didn't process my notice correctly and overpaid on last payslip ;immediately asked me for money back when I haven't been paid for any holidays left.. Do yourself a favour and stay away from this company.
Pros
Not crazy busy usually
Cons
To much useless backstock, wage not clear

Warning
Retail Assistant (Former Employee) - Canterbury, Kent - 28 May 2023
Workplace culture will be difficult for any minorities, staff can be culturally insensitive to be polite. Students be aware that you will be asked to place the job over your education. Weekly pay was alright but the pay was not worth my mental health.
Pros
Shift availabilities, weekly pay
Cons
Little to no staff, work schedules are the managers choice, culturally insensitive, Poor destination for students

Jobs at Iceland Foods
Top people and management
Home Shopping Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Rawtenstall - 28 May 2023
Great place to work. If the company offered me full time, I'd do it in a heartbeat. The job is the right amount of physical for me and I love driving too. And you're trusted by management to do your work. They are never badgering you. I've never felt under any pressure in my time here. In fact they will go above and beyond to help you succeed.
Pros
Discount card. Left to do your job with little interference
Cons
Not enough hrs

Awful dont bother
Retail Assistant (Former Employee) - Runcorn, Cheshire - 26 May 2023
Good luck trying to get any hours booked off because they will just get denied for no reason at all. They will make you feel bad for not wanting to work 40 hours a week on a 7.5hr contract.

Over worked and underpaid, no work life balance
Senior Supervisor/Assistant Manager (Current Employee) - Derby, Derbyshire - 25 May 2023
You’re made to work for free. Over worked and underpaid. Work on short notice, change your shift when they want. Give you a long break knowing you can’t have it ( don’t get paid for it as well)
Pros
You can meet good work colleges
Cons
No work life balance

No direction
Retail Assistant (Current Employee) - Essex - 25 May 2023
Company is rudderless always changing senior management, staff are expected to work through breaks start early stay late regularly with no extra pay. Work loads are ridiculous product supply and head office don't care very much we hate store staff there lazy and useless. Minimum wage pay no overtime no benefits during COVID were the last retailers to put up screens and also the last to give any extra holiday etc even though we couldn't challenge customers not wearing masks we all had to wear them. Company will be busy within 15 years as no idea how to look after staff and no direction management are basically glorified online pickers .

Stressful
Duty manager/ supervisor/ trainee driver (Former Employee) - Liverpool, Merseyside - 23 May 2023
Worker for 14 years and each year it went worse with high up decisions making jobs harder for little pay. No mental health help and no one to support needs home Or at work. Management hire friends and family so all working benefits go that way.
Pros
20% discount
Cons
Non flexible hours, no mental health support. Over worked

Poor across the board
Team Leader (Former Employee) - Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire - 19 May 2023
Very poor management, pay is low, work demands are bordering impossible and there is zero job satisfaction. Worst company I ever worked for, would definitely recommend not working here if you want job satisfaction, a livable wage, any sort of training or a good work life balance. They take take take but never give back. Lied to during the interview in regards to wage and hours available.
